Just Us Girls #299 - Photo Inspiration

Happy Saturday!  School is finally over and summer begins for me!  Hopefully that means more crafty time for me too!  Today begins a new challenge over at Just Us Girls and it's a photo challenge.  Maria has chosen this summer-filled photo.

Here's a close up of the photo.

I just love gingham, so I chose that for my inspiration.  I made this rosette from the red gingham and placed it on a green diagonal panel.  The green came from the rind of the watermelon in the picture.  I added a green heart to the center of the rosette and some sequins.  The white panels were spritzed with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist.  This is going to my BFF Maria, so I chose this lovely sentiment.

I used this sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches.

Time Out #34 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi everyone!  The new challenge over at the Time Out blog is our Home Sweet Home challenge.  This is where we supply a photo of a room in a home and you use it as inspiration.

Here's the really cool room we chose for this challenge.  So many possibilities!
I chose the pink and orange colors as my inspiration along with a bit of black. I needed some thank you cards for some end of year gifts my students are giving me.  I was organizing my stamps this weekend and found two sets from Verve with these beautiful butterflies and had to use them.  This is a one-layer card (except for the sentiment which is stacked with five layers).  Very simple card.

You can see more from our Design Team on the Time Out blog as well as Sue, our guest for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!  I have a great father-in-law that we are celebrating today with breakfast and dinner!  I made this card for him, unfortunately he won't see it because he's blind.  But I always make sure I make a nice card for him, even though he can't see it.  It makes me (and my mother-in-law) feel good!

I recently purchased MFT's Terrific Ties and the coordinating dies.  I die cut the three ties from pattern paper and adhered them to the black panel.  I also die cut some stars to place in the corner.  The sentiment was stamped below.  The white panel is raised using fun foam for some dimension (Jennifer McGuire's idea and don't we all follow her lead?  LOL!).

I followed the Fusion sketch and some of the colors from their photo.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day!

Just Us Girls #298 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  This week over at Just Us Girls we have a color challenge.  Ina chose some pretty fall colors (my favorites!).

I made a mistake in the colors.  I didn't add any burgundy.  Ooops!  I just had that picture in my head and missed the "color" part of the challenge.  Anyway, I used alcohol inks in terra cotta, butterscotch, and lettuce.  I applied drops of those colors on a felt piece attached to a blending tool then pounced it all over a piece of glossy cardstock.  Then I added some pearl mixative on the same felt piece and pounced it all over.  Some blending solution pounced over that softened the look.  It sort of looked like the picture!  I added a sentiment on a folded banner, a leaf bunch, and sequins.

I used the current sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Time Out #33 - Inspired by Words Reminder

Hi everyone!  I'm here to remind you that our current Time Out Challenge is going on for another week. It's our Inspired by Words challenge and the words are:

Happy is the bride that the sun shines on...

Last week, I made a card with a bride theme.  This week I'm focusing on the sunshine part.  I just organized all my dies.  I've had them organized alphabetically by company, but that was a problem because I found I was buying dies from companies that were similar and I didn't even realize I had!  And I was buying duplicates of them too!  So now, they are organized by category.  While I was doing that, I found these Lil' Inker dies I didn't know I had, and they were perfect for this challenge.  I die cut the sun and clouds from watercolor paper and watercolored them with distress inks.  I mounted them on a piece of cardstock that was given texture with a linen impression plate.  Then I just added some pretty sequins and the sentiment.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) this sketch.

Just Us Girls #297 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  It's Trend Week over at Just Us Girls.  The challenge Sue has for us is to use stacked die cuts.  I love doing this technique and use it a lot!

For my card, I die cut this die five times and stacked it together.  I added glossy accents on top for some shine.  My layout for the card actually came from a Ford commercial I saw on TV (you never know where inspiration is going to hit!).  I saw the bright blue and green triangles on the white screen and thought it would make a fun graphic card.  Where my thanks die cut is placed on my card is where the car was on screen.  I taped off the bottom of the card and sponged salty ocean distress ink on it.  Then I taped off the other side and sponged it with cracked pistachio distress ink.  I finished it off with enamel dots.

Time Out Challenge #33 - Inspired by Words

We are being inspired by words this time around at the Time Out Challenge blog!  And the words are:

Happy is the bride that the sun shines on...

Here's my take on those words.  This is an oldie but goodie stamp from Inkadinkadoo.  It wasn't my first choice.  I couldn't find the stamp I originally wanted, but guess when I found it?  That's right...just after I finished this one!  Isn't that always the way things happen?  Anyway, I first stamped the image in Versamark and embossed it in white.  Then I took some picked raspberry ink and watercolored the image.  Spun sugar was watercolored around it so the image showed up a bit more.  The sentiment was stamped in smoky slate ink and I added sequins (mine never look as good as some other stampers!) and a strip of pink cardstock.  The main panel is mounted on a basic gray base.

Our guest for this challenge is Sue.  You can see her card and the DT cards on the Time Out blog.

I'm also entering this into Virginia's View challenge.  I think it qualifies.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #296 - Word Week

Hi friends!  It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls and the word Nancy chose is SUMMER!  I don't know about you, but I'm anxiously awaiting summer this year after the terrible winter we had!

I used some PTI products that have been waiting patiently for me to break into them.  The clouds base was cut from white cardstock and the bottom was sponged with some blue ink.  Then I cut the sun rays from some yellow dotted paper and adhered it on the bottom.  I die cut another cloud, covered it with glue 'n seal, and sprinkled clear rock candy distress glitter on it.  The sentiment is perfect for this challenge!

We have a new guest this month, Ros Crawford, so stop by her blog.  You can also see more inspiration on the DT blogs.
