Time Out #154 - Affectionate

Hello!  For this next Time Out challenge, we challenge you to be Affectionate.

This challenge is sponsored by Cas-ual Friday Stamps and I've chosen to use Ever After.

I first embossed the main panel with a pierced heart die then sponged pink distress oxide inks on it and spritzed it with water.  Then I die cut a heart and stamped the sentiment on it.  I stamped the larger sentiment on a scrap piece of cardstock and fussy cut it.  This was adhered to the card with dimensionals.  I added sequins to finish off the card.

Just Us Girls #520 - Photo Week

Hi all!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls, and Vicki has chosen this pretty butterfly photo to inspire us.

Aren't those butterflies in the inspiration photo beautiful?  I thought the best way to get something close to those would be to use alcohol pearl inks.  I started with a panel of alcohol ink cardstock and added blue and purple alcohol pearl inks along with blending solution.  I used a straw to move the colors around.  Then I added some silver mixative and more blending solution and used the straw again to move the silver.  I hated cutting into that panel because it was so pretty!  But I did anyway.  I die cut the solid butterfly from this panel and the intricate one from black cardstock and adhered them together.  I also die cut the body of the butterfly from black cardstock and adhered that to the completed butterfly.  Then I stamped the border in black ink and adhered the butterflies (the bottom one is adhered directly to the white base and the top one is adhered with dimensionals).  I added a black mat and some purple crystals to finish the card.

Here is a tilted shot so you can see the shimmer of the alcohol pearl ink as well as the silver mixative.  It's so pretty in person!

Just Us Girls #519 - Color Week

Hi friends!  It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Sue chose purple, pink, and red.  Perfect for this time of year!

I actually made three cards.  I don't know the name of this technique, but basically you put down some color (or you could use pattern paper), stamp an image in versamark and heat emboss it with clear embossing powder, then add another color over it.  The first color you put down is captured under the embossing.  On this one, I put down some pink oxide ink then stamped this pretty floral background stamp with versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I applied some purple ink over that.  I buffed off ink that was sitting on top of the embossing.  I added the red heart with embossed sentiment and the arrow.  Silver sequins completed the card.

I did the same thing here but added red ink on the panel first, then went over it with purple ink and added a pink heart.

This card uses the same background stamp, but in a different way.  I just inked it up with pink, red, and purple inks for a sort of ombre look.  The red heart is inlaid in the panel.  The pink and red inks are a bit splotchy even after stamping it several times.

Just Us Girls #518 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  The new challenge over at Just Us Girls is Trend Week.  Maria has chosen to create dimension.  I used some sort of dimension on 99% of my cards, so this was easy!

I pulled out this floral edge die to create dimension on this card.  When I was looking for pattern paper, I found this Doodlebug pack and it had some grays in it.  I love gray...it's a big staple in my closet!  I chose three patterns from the pack.  First, I used the lightest color to die cut the floral swag and the top layer of the "happy" word.  Then I used the medium color to die cut the edge of that panel (there are two dies in this set...one die cuts the floral swag and the other the edge).  Then I die cut the floral swag again in the dark color so I could inlay the leaves and petals.  I also used that dark color to die cut the bottom layer of the word.  The main panel was popped up on craft foam for the dimension.  I added the sub-sentiment and silver crystals to finish it off.  My photo skills are sub-par...this card is so much prettier in person.  And I love the sparkle from the crystals too!

Just Us Girls #517 - Word Week

Hi friends! It's been a while since the Just Us Girls challenge has been up.  We were on a month-long break for the holidays.  I thoroughly enjoyed it!  My hubby and I were in Buenos Aires with a side trip to Uruguay for two weeks then the holidays came upon us very quickly.  And now they are over.  Tree needs to come down in the next couple of days, and things will be back to normal.

Anyway, we are on Word Week for this challenge.  And Angie has chosen SNOWFLAKES.

I needed some thank you cards, so this was a fun word to work with.  I was playing around with some pearl alcohol inks for the first time.  These are so shimmery!  I made three panels and six cards from them!  The first two are the same design, but on this one I used  blue, purple and green inks.  I cut a panel to fit behind this pretty snowflake die cut.  I added it to the panel with craft foam for dimension.  The word die is two pieces:  I die cut the bottom layer from purple cardstock and the top from white and layered them together.  I added crystals for more sparkle.

On this alcohol ink panel, I only used blue and purple inks.  A more intense look, I think.

This one is my favorite, except it didn't photograph well, and I was disappointed. I die cut the snowflake panel and layered the alcohol inked panel to it.  That was placed on a purple stitched rectangle panel.  I love the dainty word die cut.  It was perfect to fit in a small area.  I again added crystals for sparkle.

Time Out #152 - Photo Inspiration

Hi all!  It's time to start our 2020 Time Out challenges!  For this one, we have this pretty fireplace mantel photo to be inspired by.

We are sponsored by Funky Fossil Designs for this challenge too!

I chose the Four Hearts Stencil to use for my card.  (This photo is hideous!  I can't retake it because it has been sent out already!  UGH!)  I die cut the white panel then used the stencil and some Gina K red glitter gel to create the striped heart.  I stamped the sentiment (a free stamp gift from Altenew!) onto kraft cardstock with black ink.  (This matched the LOVE banner in the photo.)  Once the glitter gel was dry, I added craft foam behind the panel then mounted it onto some red cardstock and a white base.
