Just Us Girls #494 - Wild Card Week

Hi all!  It's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Ina chose for us to make a fancy fold card.

I hope this qualifies as a fancy fold.  It folds flat to fit into an envelope.  This was done with the dies and stamps from Concord & 9th called Birthday Stacks.  The balloons, word, and presents are all at different levels and are stacked for more dimension.  I stamped the balloons and presents in Versamark and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.  I added shimmer to the word and also added sequins.

I used this week colors from the Color Throwdown challenge.

You can see more from our JUGs design team as well as our June guest, Marlena, on the JUGs blog.  This is her last week with us and we'd like to thank her for her great creations this month.

Just Us Girls #493 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls for our Photo Week challenge this week.  Since it officially summer in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought this photo was appropriate.

I've had this beverages stamp set for a long time and it may have seen ink once before.  I stamped and die cut the images and the "sand" then colored the beverages with copic markers.  I tried to color them like the drinks in the photo.  Then I used distress oxide inks to create the water and a cloud stencil for the sky.  I thought the sentiment was perfect one as this is going to a friend who is retiring next week.  I also added some sequins and shimmer to the images.

The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge - Day 6

This is Day 6 of the The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge over at the Daily Marker.  I'm entering this card for the challenge.  I colored this image according to a picture I took of it at a stamp show because I would not even begin to know to color it without an example!  I cut out the left side of the image and mounted it on a red panel.  The geraniums were covered in star dust stickles and look so pretty and sparkly.  The sentiment was die cut three times from black cardstock and stacked.  I added the black hearts and also added the stickles to them.  It was so relaxing coloring this image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #138 - Funny

Hi everyone!  It time for a new Time Out challenge.  This time, we are asking you to be FUNNY!

We are sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays for this challenge, so I pulled out one of their sentiment sets to use on this card.  I stamped all those candles in rainbow order and added star dust stickles to the flames.  The first part of the sentiment was stamped in red, green, and blue.  The second part was stamped in black ink and popped up.  I mounted it on a red panel then added it to the white base.  I love that sentiment!  Funny but not nasty!

Just Us Girls #492 - Color Week

Hey friends!  Just Us Girls has a new Color challenge today, and Carol has chosen a different kind of color challenge.  She wants us to use light, mid, and dark tones of any one color.  Fun!

I thought the easiest way to achieve this was to apply color over an embossed background.  I chose this Gerbera Daisy background and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I applied three different yellow distress oxide inks over it.  I think you can see the three different colors.  For the sentiment, I chose this pretty linked chain circle die and die cut it with white cardstock.  Then I die cut a stitched circle from yellow cardstock and stamped the sentiment.  The crystals gave it some sparkle.

Just Us Girls #491 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby chose texture paste.

I love using texture paste, especially this glittery one.  I took out this leaves stencil and added the lime green glittery texture paste over it on white cardstock.  I let it sit overnight to thoroughly dry, then mounted it on black cardstock with craft foam.  It was a little warped so the craft foam straightened it out a bit.  The sentiment was die cut from black card stock as well as from black craft foam.  I added that and some clear sequins.

Time Out #137 - Theme Challenge

Hi there!  The new Time Out challenge is a theme challenge, and the theme is Nature.

I went through my bevy of stamp sets and came across this Whipper Snapper cactus stamp.  It was perfect for this challenge as well as for a thank you card I needed.  We visited my cousin in San Diego a few weeks ago, and she and her husband graciously shared their home with us for two weeks as well as gave us their car to use for the entire time we were there.  I admired her cactus gardens while I was there, so this image was totally appropriate to send to her.  I stamped it in Memento tuxedo black and colored it with copics.  I love Whipper Snapper stamps and packages because they include a colored image that you can use for inspiration.  I die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die.  The thanks word was die cut once from green cardstock and twice from white then were stacked offset.  The sentiment was stamped with black ink and die cut with a banner die.  I added this to a piece of diagonal striped pattern paper as well as white Nuvo drops.  I also added some shimmer to the image and the word die.

Just Us Girls #490 - Word Week

Hey there!  Can you believe it's June already? Where did May go?  But, I'm glad to see May gone.  Not very good weather and I need me some summer!

Anyway, it's Word Week over at Just Us Girls, and Sue chose the word RETRO!

I have to admit I saw Sue's card (the retro van) before I made mine.  It reminded me of this stamp I have had FOREVER!  I don't think it's even available now.  But I colored it with copics in some mod colors and die cut it with a stitched rectangle as well as a black mat.  The panel behind it was stamped with an old background basics stamp from PTI. That panel was die cut with a larger stitched rectangle and another black mat.  The panel the image is on was popped up with craft foam.  I added shimmer on several items on the van.  I thought the sentiment was appropriate.
