Just Us Girls #590 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  Vicki chose a really cool photo for the Just Us Girls Photo Week challenge.

I went literal with the challenge.  I started by blending some distress oxide inks in various shades of blue to create the background.  I tried to leave some lighter areas like in the photo and splattered it with white paint.  I remembered I had this balloon cutting plate from Taylored Expressions that was perfect!  I die cut it three times.  I colored one of them with copic markers and cut the balloons from the other two just so I had the frames remaining.  I stacked them onto the first one for dimension.  I then die cut the sentiment three times and stacked it too.  Crystals and shimmer spritz were added for sparkle.

This is our June Guest Designer, Fran Wing's, last challenge with us this month.  I'd like to thank her for being such a great guest and hope we see her in the gallery in the future!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #589 - Color Week

Hi friends!  It's Color Week over at Just Us Girls.  Cecile has chosen a hot trio of colors:  orange, poppy red,and hot pink.  Very fiery colors!

I went with a grapic design, choosing this Turn About stamp from Concord & 9th.  Usually with a TAB stamp, you use four colors (or turn the stamp four times).  I only turned it three times using the three challenge colors.  I then used the accent stamps to add some patterns to some of the images in black (a neutral color that's allowed).  I matted it on a black mat.  The die cut sentiment was die cut three times in black and stacked.  The shadow was die cut in white and I added the black sentiment on top.  I added a black clay heart to the center of the letter "o".  The strip sentiment is from one of the pre-printed sentiments from SSS.  I added clear crystals that kind of look like water droplets.  I'm loving these colors together!

Time Out #190 - Photo Inspiration and a Farewell

Hi all!  It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  This week is our Photo Inspiration challenge and it's such a cool one!  Love those stripes!

Those stripes and the plants are what I chose as inspiration for my card.  I started with the striped pattern paper from Waffle Flower.  Then I found this floral frame die and sentiment die in my "never been used" box and used them.  The frame die has a coordinating outline stamp that I stamped in black ink and colored it with copic markers.  The sentiment was die cut three times and stacked together for dimension.  I added shimmer to this die cut and crystals around the card.  It was a very fast and easy card to create and I love all the fun colors.

So this will be my last post as a design team member with Time Out.  I've been on this team since the very beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.  I just feel it's time to move on and do other things.  Sandie and the other girls have always made me feel so welcome.  It was so fun to meet Joyce in person when I was in San Diego two years ago.  She picked me up and took me to a great restaurant for breakfast.  We've done some Zoom meetings which were also so much fun to get to actually talk to the girls.  This is a wonderful team, and I know they will keep the challenge going strong as it has.  Thank you so much for everything, and I won't be a stranger...I'm sure you'll see me in the gallery from time to time!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #588 - Trend Week

Hello!  It's Trend Week over at Just Us Girls and Carol has challenged us not to stamp anything on our cards.

I decided to use just die cuts on my card for this challenge.  I went through all of my dies and chose one I haven't used yet.  I saw this exact card sample (in different colors) at my LSS long ago and bought these Spellbinders dies to recreate it.  There are three layered dies and I chose a dark pink for the bottom layer, a light pink for the middle layer, and white for the top layer.  I die cut each one five times and layered them together to create five final triangles.  I arranged them on a slimline size card.  I then die cut the hugs die from the dark pink cardstock and the layer from vellum.  For some finishing touches, I added white pearls and shimmer spritz.  (Sorry for the bad photo.  It was late, I had bad lighting, and I have trouble getting good photos of slimline cards in general.)

Time Out #189 - Inspired by Words

Hello!  The Time Out challenge is in its second week of its Inspired by Words challenge.  So much to take away from this quote.

I have had this stamp set from Hero Arts for a bit and thought it would be perfect.  I stamped the tree and boy reading a book (of poems!) and colored them with copic markers.  I added the grass to ground them.  There is some shimmer on some of the things in the tree and I added sequins for extra sparkle.  I love the sentiment!

We are sponsored by Alex Syberia Design for this challenge.  See the Time Out blog for details.

Just Us Girls #587 - Word Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls this week, and I chose KIND/KINDNESS.  A nod to my last name I know, but I thought we could use some kindness these days!

I found this stenciled panel on my desk that I must have done a long time ago.  I know I've made cards with this stencil before (probably with these same colors), but I just love it!  I searched for a die cut to use and found this one (never used!) from Papertrey Ink.  I'm not even sure it's still available.  I die cut the word from navy cardstock three times and stacked it for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  The embossing is not even...I did it twice and had the same results.  I even heated up my heat gun for a minute and only held it over the embossing until it melted.  Sometimes it comes out perfectly, sometimes not!  I added blue crystals to finish it off.

On another crafty note, our nephew and his wife are expecting a baby in September, and the baby shower is today.  I was in charge of favors (go figure!) and headed to Pinterest for ideas.  I saw lots of succulent favors, which I thought was so cute.  I wrapped each one in burlap and secured it with twine.  Then I typed up the information I wanted, printed it on cardstock, and die cut it with a Hero Arts onesie die.  I added a green bow (we won't know if it's a girl or boy until its birth!) and after I took the picture, I added a white clay heart that I colored green to match the bow.

This is the back of the tag.  I printed the front and back separately.  Once I die cut both, I adhered them together with a popsicle stick between them.

Thanks for indulging me in my craftiness for this baby shower!
