Tag You're It! Challenge #97

Happy Monday!  Today I'm playing along with the Tag You're It! Challenge.  The challenge is fun with flags.

I have had this very old Simon Says Stamp set called Flag Friends (retired) and I just can't part with it.  The coordinating die cuts out the tag and the little flag opening where you can stamp various flags.  I've chosen the thanks flag stamped in a dark pink.  The flower and leaf were die cut from the same pattern paper as the background, Over the Rainbow (MFT).  I punched a hole in the corner to add the twine bow.  I covered the center of the flower and the leaf in liquid stardust and added some sequins for more shimmer and sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag You're It! #80

I was so happy to see that the Tag You're It! Challenge is back!  I love making tags. I don't use them much, but I love making them!  Their theme is love is in the air, and when I saw their graphic, I thought of this die I have. I first die cut two tags from white card stock.  Then I die cut the heart die from one of them and again from red glitter cardstock.  I covered the one tag with adhesive and adhered the other to it.  Then I just inlaid the red glitter pieces into it.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I decided it needed something.  I saw these little agenda bunnies stamps and chose this one.  I did color him with copics (it's not much, but I did color him with pink, red, and gray markers), so I'm entering this into the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  You have to start somewhere, right?  I do want to color more, so baby steps!  I added ribbon and these little hearts to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #372 - Word Week

It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls and Nancy chose an appropriate one for this time of year...Christmas Tree.

An easy one, but the tough thing was which Christmas tree do I use from my stamp and die collection?  THAT was a tough one!  I settled on this tree die from Paper Smooches.  I die cut it from white glitter paper.  I also wanted to make a tag to play along in the Tag You're It challenge.  I used a piece of Distress Specialty Stamping paper and sponged Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers on it.  Then I spritzed it with water.  I love how it looks like snow falling or even lights glimmering.  I stitched the parts of the tag together with twine and added the sentiment.  I tied it off with satin ribbon and more twine.

Here's the link to the Tag You're It challenge.

MFT Camp Create Day 2 - Coloring on Kraft

Hi friends!  I was supposed to post this yesterday, but my WIFI router bit the dust and I had no internet!  I thought my internet service was out, but it was just the router.  So I now have a new one and all is good!

So I'm participating in MFT's Camp Create and I'm behind again!  I'm posting yesterday's challenge of coloring on kraft today (even though I had it done yesterday...darn technology!).
Print

I decided to make a tag.  The flowers and leaves were stamped and die cut from kraft paper and colored with Prismacolor pencils.  It's very primary coloring.  I'm no expert with the pencils! I don't think I need to explain any of the details of the card.  Very simple design.

I used  this tag as my inspiration from the Tag You're It! challenge.

I earned this badge today!

I'm hoping to post tomorrow for days 3 & 4 of MFT's challenges.  I do have a post for the Time Out challenge scheduled!  See you then!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #339 - Color Week

Hi friends!  It's color week over at Just Us Girls and Judy has chosen these beautifully soft colors.

I used the peach and lavender colors through a stencil on ivory cardstock.  Then I used them again on the flower.  The tag was splattered with these colors as well.  I added some peach seam binding tied with ivory floss.  The main panel and the tag are popped up on craft foam.

I'm playing along with the current Tag You're It challenge.

Just Us Girls #314 - Trend Week

It's Trend Week over at Just Us Girls and Nancy chose stenciling!  I love my stencils and use them a lot.  They are such fun to use!

I just took a technique class with Tammy Tutterow at my local stamp store with my friend and fellow JUGs designer Cheryl Rowley.  She showed us lots of techniques using stencils that I wanted to use.  However, I needed Picket Fence paint for the technique and thought I had it, but I only had it in stain form.  The technique didn't work with the stain.  So I just went with sponging distress inks.  The tag was sponged with a few inks in the background then stenciled with the purple ink.  I stenciled part of the card base with the purple ink as well and added the sentiment and sequins.  The tag was decorated with the cute die cut skeleton and the hanging spider.  (I've been seeing so many spiders in my house lately.  One was super big and I had to trap him in a shoe box before flushing him down the toilet!  EEK!!)

I'm entering this card in the Tag You're It challenge too!

Just Us Girls #304 - Word Week

Hi friends!  This week over at Just Us Girls it's word week.  Maria chose the word Autumn...my favorite time of the year!  I'm pretty sure it's Maria's as well!

This is my interpretation of Autumn...leaves.  I started with the woodgrain stencil and brushed corduroy ink.  Then I went to work on the tag.  I stamped the leaf sprig on the tag with Versamark ink and embossed it with white powder.  Then I took three distress inks and sponged them on, blending them together.  I then die cut the leaf from watercolor paper.  I worked on this leaf for a looooong time!  I did it and re-did it four times before I settled on this one.  I sponged green on the stem and towards the center of the leaf.  Then I applied some orange and yellow inks.  I then added some drops of water on it and heat set it.  The veins were stamped with brown ink.  The baker's twine, sequins, and sentiment finish it off.

I used this week's Tag You're It! challenge as my inspiration.

I'm also taking the Background Check Online Card Class and the sponging on the tag is a technique they talked about.

Tag You're It! Challenge #3

I love making tags, so I was thrilled when this Tag You're It challenge blog started.  This week, they are teaming up with CAS(E) this Sketch.

I was at my local stamp store this afternoon and picked up a new paper pack and this anchor die.  Little did I know they would be used today on the same card!  Score!  This tag started out with a kraft tag.  I stamped the rope image in kraft ink then added the pattern paper.  The anchor was cut from another pattern from the pack and white to make it sturdier.  They were adhered together and added to the tag with dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment in red ink and created the banner end.  It was also adhered with dimensional tape.  The stars were added, and there is some Wink of Stella shimmer on the anchor and stars.  Lastly, I added the jute ribbon.

That's it for me today.  I have more to share this weekend, so stop by again!

Tag You're It!

There's a new challenge on the block called Tag You're It!  They are on to challenge #2 already (I missed the first one because I was on vacation).  I love making tags.  Don't know why, but they are just so fun to make!  Laura Bassen is their guest for this challenge and I just loved her tag.

The colors and grid grabbed my attention.  I had a Hero Arts grid pattern stamp that I've had for a while, but never used.  So I decided to dust the cobwebs off of it!  I started with die cutting a tag from distress watercolor paper then embossing it with the grid pattern stamp in white embossing powder.  To color the tag, I used three gelatos in lemon, mango, and melon.  I put some color down and blended them together with water and a paint brush.  Love the look!  The "hello" die was cut 5 times and stacked together.  I shimmered it up with a Wink of Stella shimmer and glossy accents for more shine.  I placed it on a black banner to ground it and added some sequins and baker's twine.

Now I have to find a gift bag to put it on!  Thanks for stopping by!
