Just Us Girls #551 - Wild Card

Hi friends!  It's the last and fifth Saturday in August (can you believe summer is almost gone?), so it is our Wild Card challenge over at Just Us Girls.  Carol chose BUTTERFLIES for this challenge.

My friend Cheryl and I were just talking about butterflies in crafting the other day and I was thinking about my favorite butterfly die.  It's a stitched set from Lil' Inkers (now defunct I believe) that I pulled out for this card.  I just purchased this circle slim line die and had to use it.  I die cut a white panel with it and backed it with cardstock matching the pattern paper I used to die cut the butterflies.  I adhered that panel to the base and added crystals to match as well as smaller butterflies from the colored cardstock.  The sentiment was die cut from gray cardstock three times and stacked.  That's it!  Loving these slim line cards!

Time Out #169 - Theme Challenge

Hi friends!  The new Time Out challenge is our theme challenge.  The theme is SEASON, which can be interpreted any way you want!

I went the traditional way...seasons of the year.  Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and made tags.  I've had these seasonal wreath stamps from Taylored Expressions forever.  In fact, they were in my purge box because I've never used them and I've had them so long.  But they are so pretty, I had to pull them out and use them.  All of the tags were created similarly.  The tags were die cut from white cardstock and ink was blended onto them.  On the tops of the tags, I added matching pattern paper.  All the wreaths were stamped with black ink, colored with copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  A sentiment representing the season was stamped below the wreath.  Ribbon, twine and crystals finished them off.

This one is a Valentine's wreath and represents Spring.

Summer is represented with this strawberry wreath.

This one represents my favorite season...Fall.

And finally Winter is represented with this Christmas wreath.

Just Us Girls #50 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  It's Photo Week over at Just Us Girls and Maria chose this delicious looking photo!  I don't drink coffee, but I'll pretend it's a chai tea latte!

I brought out this old (and now defunct) coffee themed set from Lil' Inkers.  I started with the background.  I stamped the outline image of the coffee cup with a new ink from Concord & 9th in a light blue (I got that color from the background of the photo).  Then I impressed it with a canvas impression plate, die cut it with a stitched rectangle die, and spattered it with brown ink.  The coffee cut was stamped with dark brown and light brown inks.  I die cut a piece of brown cardstock with a pinking edge die and layered it with a piece of pattern paper.  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I finished it with crystals, some shimmer on the coffee then mounted it on a brown piece of cardstock onto a white card base.

Just Us Girls #549 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  Just Us Girls has a Color challenge going on this week.  The colors are a very pretty and interesting one...kraft, dark teal, and berry.

I think the hardest thing for me to do when participating in these challenges is deciding which stamp set to use.  I have too many!  I like to use ones that have never seen ink, like this one from WPlus 9.  I thought it would work well with the color challenge colors.  I started by die cutting and stamping the bird house, window box with flowers, pail with flowers and the other bouquets.  Then I used a oval mask and blended some kraft ink around the mask.  The tall flowers behind the pail of flowers was stamped directly onto the panel as was the sentiment.  I added a few of the die cuts with dimensionals, crystals, and shimmer to the flowers.   I must say that I cased the layout from a very pretty card I found on the WPlus 9 site, but changed many of the things from the original card.

Time Out #168 - Photo Inspiration

Hello friends!  It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  This challenge is our Photo Inspiration challenge.  Look at this very cute terrarium!  So much inspiration!

I know I have a hibiscus flower image or die somewhere, but my organization system is a little askew right now and I couldn't find it.  So I chose this flower by Altenew (they have the best floral images) and went with the colors of pink, blue, and green from the photo.  I masked the image  to stamp the leaves.  I'm in need of birthday cards, so I chose this sentiment from MFT.  I added pink and blue crystals and a bit of shimmer on the center of the flower.  Simple and easy card to create

Just Us Girls #548 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  OMGoodness Blogger!!  What the heck?  I could not figure out how to create my post!  I had to revert back to the original format in order to get this done.  I don't know what I'm going to do going forward, but for now I got it to work again!

It's Trend Week over at Just Us Girls and Bobby chose a die-cut window.

I went through my frame dies and found this one that I've never used.  I used the Waffle Flower pattern papers that they came out with a few months ago.  I die cut the window from the dotted paper and die cut it with a stitched rectangle then adhered it to a matching pattern paper from the pack.  The sentiment was die cut three times from black paper and adhered to the opening.  I added shimmer to it and crystals to the panel.

Time Out #167 - Inspired by Words

Hi friends!  We are in the second week of the Time Out challenge.  This is the Inspired by Words challenge.  The quote for the challenge is:
Your love starts a dance party in my heart

I couldn't find any "dance party" stamps, but I did have many heart inspired stamps, so that's what I went with.  I die cut the heart from pattern paper and the arms from blush cardstock.  This was popped up on craft foam.  The main panel was stenciled with tattered rose distress oxide ink.  I die cut that panel with a stitched rectangle die.  The sentiment was stamped and die cut with a banner die.  I added crystals to that panel.  On the inside, the sentiment says "that's as close as I can get to hugging you right now".  Love that!  I'm sending this to our friend in Virginia who is battling breast cancer.  It's the best we can do right now.
