Just Us Girls #244 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  The Just Us Girls challenge this week is a sketch challenge...one of my favorite of our challenges.  Nancy created this great sketch for us to use.

I have a first birthday party to go to next weekend, so I decided to use the sketch to create his birthday card.  I stamped the cupcakes in four different Memento Luxe inks (love them!) on squares.  They looked a little ordinary, so I rounded two corners on each square for more interest.  The blue panel needed something too, so I used a Tim Holtz star stencil and translucent paste. But I'm disappointed that you can't see more of them!  Oh well!  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

You should stop by these blogs to see what the design team has created!  And we have a new guest this month...Shirley-Bee!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #239 - Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!  My good friend Cheryl has created a great sketch for our Just Us Girls sketch challenge.

I knew as soon as I looked at the sketch that PTI's new Botanical Blocks set was going to work perfectly.  I just love sunflowers (see my blog design?) and fell in love with this sunflower.  I love how Nichole Heady colored hers when she revealed it, so I used the same copic colors she used. ( My BG72 copic marker ran out of ink before I could finish blending the colors!)  The horizontal piece was cut from a new die I purchased at JoAnn's.  It's from a new Spellbinder's line.  I added the sentiment and enamel dots to finish it off.

We have a new guest for this month.  Please welcome Barbara Campbell.  Stop by the DT blogs for more inspiration.

I'm also entering this in Crazy 4 Challenges.  Their challenge is called April showers bring May flowers and you have to use a flower on your card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #235 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  How was your week?  I hope it was better than mine!  This was a big testing week in NY for our students in English Language Arts, and it was a difficult test for our kiddos to take.  Three days of testing and 90 minutes per day!  Yesterday I was at our training center for scorer training and it was a stressful, long day.  Next week we correct them...fingers crossed they did ok!

Anyway, crafting calms me and this week over at Just Us Girls we have a sketch challenge.  Maria came up with this really fun sketch.

I just bought this stamp set and matching dies from Paper Smooches Reverse Confetti called Carton Cuties.  (I'm such a dork!  I entered this card in the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge and it's not a PS stamp set!)  It is such a cute set!  I die cut the little chickies, stamped the image, and then colored them with copic markers.  I die cut the circles (I wish they were smaller) and added the chicks behind that panel.  The green panel was run through a chicken wire embossing folder.  I added some Wink of Stella shimmer on the chicks.

Since this is the first challenge of the month, we have a new guest designer.  We are welcoming Lee Anne Cross this month!  Please stop by her blog and the DT blogs as well for more inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #230 - Sketch Challenge

Hi friends!  Can you believe it's March 1st?  And it's STILL COLD!!!  When is the warm weather going to come back?  I love winter and the cold, but this was a looonnngg winter!

Anyway, since it's the first Saturday of the month, that means it's Sketch Challenge week over at Just Us Girls.  Vicki created a fun one for us!

I went very literal with the sketch as usual.  When I saw the panels, I knew I wanted to use this new stamp set I just purchased from Fresh Squeezed Stamps called Paper, Scissors, Ink.  The paper is new as well.  I love the color combo, but I wish my flag was a little longer and narrower!  Hindsight, right?

We have a new guest designer for March and that is Calypso.  We are so happy to have her join us this month!  You can see more inspiration from the JUGs DT at these blogs.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #226 - Sketch Challenge

Can you believe it's already February?  Where has January gone?  It's been a wild month with all the crazy cold weather we've had!  We are starting to warm up this weekend, but I don't know what next week will bring!  Hopefully no more school closings!

Since it's the first Saturday of the month, Just Us Girls has a sketch challenge going on.  Maria came up with this really great one!

I've made my quota of Valentine cards I think, and I needed a birthday card for today so I changed the heart to a circle.   This is for the father of a friend of ours who is celebrating his 80th birthday.  Masculine cards are a challenge for me!  I chose this Bo Bunny paper and some number dies.  Very simple card.  I didn't want to add any bling.  I just purchased this card hanger die and adhered it to the kraft bag so I could hang the card on the front.  You can purchase this die here.  I got mine at my LSS Buffalo Stamps and Stuff recently.  I love that store...the owner always has everything trending!

You can see more of what the JUGs design team did on these blogs, and welcome our new guest for February Melissa Hubert.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #222 - Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  This is the first post of the new year for me.  It's a great sketch challenge from Just Us Girls brought to us by Nancy!

I wanted to use something in my collection of stamps/dies that I hadn't used yet.  I came across this stamp/die set from WPlus9 called Fanciful Feathers.  The feathers were cut from watercolor paper that I colored with Distress markers (pictures of the technique below).  I covered the feathers with a Wink of Stella glitter brush.  It sparkles so nicely in person!  I mounted them on squares of vellum that was run through an embossing folder.  I added some (a lot!) of sequins.  Maybe too many?  I never know when to stop!

Here are a couple of photos I took of how I colored the watercolor paper.  I used Distress markers to color rows of the four colors.

Then I used a water brush to blend and soften the colors.  I dried the paper with a heat gun before die cutting the feathers.  Love the look!

You can see more fabulous inspiration from the JUGs team at the blogs below.  We also have a new Guest Designer joining us this month, so please make a stop at her blog as well!

Just Us Girls #218 -Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!  This week is sketch challenge week over at Just Us Girls, and Maria has created this fun sketch for us!

This is what I came up with.  I was trying to play along with the Color Throwdown which has these colors plus red, but I just could not get the red in there.  So I just went without and created this.  I started with the pattern paper from Doodlebug called North Pole as my base.  Then I cut the snowflake from pink glitter paper and used the leftover pieces on the tag and in the corner.  I just couldn't let them go to waste!   The green panel was run through a snowflake embossing folder.  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.  This will go to one of my girl friends since it's so girly in color!

We have a new guest designer for December starting with us this week and that is Jan Del Bone.  Please welcome her and check out the JUGs DT cards here.

Just Us Girls #213 - Sketch Challenge

Hi friends!  This week's Just Us Girls challenge is a sketch challenge, and Sharyn created a great one.

This is my interpretation.  I'm usually pretty literal when it comes to sketches, but those two small circles really through me for a loop!  I just could not make them work with my clock die. I tried every button, bow, brad, and flower in my stash! I think it came out ok though.  This die is from Impression Obsession and I cut it out of this cool silver cardstock my friend and now fellow JUGS member Cheryl gifted me.  You can buy it here and see how it is used in this Theresa Momber video. You can also see how Cheryl used it on her card here.   Really cool stuff!  Thanks Cheryl!

I made this card for my SIL's birthday.  I bought her a ticket to see Cher in concert here in Buffalo, NY in April (I'm going too!).  I was thinking of her song "If I Could Turn Back Time" when making this and I will probably type that up on my computer and print it out for the inside of the card.

You can see more from the JUGs design team at these blogs.

Just Us Girls #209 - Sketch Challenge

Happy World Card Making Day!  Isn't it great that we card makers have a day?  Love it!  Just Us Girls is celebrating today with a sponsor.  One winner will win a $15 gift certificate to A Walk Down Memory Lane!

This week is our sketch challenge and Maria gave us this cool sketch.
I'm in a fall mood, so I went with these sunflowers from Papertrey Ink and fall colors.  Don't you just love dies?  I remember fussy cutting before dies...ugh!  I stamped the sunflowers in Butter Bar ink and the centers in Latte chalk ink (Hero Arts ink) and the leaves in Old Olive (SU).  The kraft paper was impressed with the woodgrain impression plate and I added a piece of dp from Sugar Hill paper pack by Farm House.  The sentiment was cut from Crushed Curry paper.  I added shimmer to the sentiment and flower centers with a Wink of Stella brush.  Grosgrain ribbon and some crystals finish it off.

You can see more from our JUGs DT (please welcome new DT members Sharyn, Sue, Cheryl, and Sue) at these blogs.

Just Us Girls #205 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  Time for a new challenge from Just Us Girls.  This week is our sketch challenge and the ever talented Vicki created this great sketch that can be interpreted any way you want!

I was in a very fall mood today.  It's chilly and rainy here in Buffalo, NY and I am in my fleece top and sweats!  Ah, fall!  Love it!  It's just a great day to chill and stamp, which is what I did.  It was a busy week with school starting and getting up at 5:00 everyday (and sometimes earlier).  I had to wait until this afternoon to create my challenge card(s).

I was thinking about this Tim Holtz stamp set called Mini Blueprints last week and thought I'd pull it out to create some fall cards.  The first one is a leaf I colored with copics and added some Wink of Stella shimmer to.  I added some tea dye and vintage photo distress inks on the image when it was still in the die.  The background paper is from Fall Prints and Patterns by Papertrey Ink.  I added some texture to the paper with Tim Holtz's new stencils.  I used burlap with scattered straw ink and stripes with tea dye ink.

On this one, the acorn was also colored with copics and some Wink of Stella shimmer was added to it.  I used the same pattern paper and this time used dotted fade stencil with vintage photo ink then stripes stencil with wild honey ink.  This card could definitely fit in the masculine category!

Just Us Girls #200!!! Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone!  Can you believe this is the 200th challenge at Just Us Girls?  I remember when we first started this challenge and how excited we all were!  And guess what?  We are STILL excited about these challenges!  This week is our sketch challenge brought to us by Maria.  Love this simple sketch!

To celebrate our 200th challenge, Inspired by Stamping is giving a $15 gift certificate to one lucky winner!

I have a bridal shower to go to tomorrow, so I used this to make a card for Stephanie.  This Modern Bride stamp is from Whipper Snapper.  I've had it forever and just love it!  I colored it with copic markers and added a pearl for her earring and some star dust stickles on her hair and flowers.  The paper I chose is Delightful from Authentique.  I mounted it with some blushing bride cardstock.  The sentiment is from Print Works.  I used a fancy Spellbinders die to cut out the sentiment and added some pink ink on it.

Stop by these blogs to see more inspiration using this sketch.

Just Us Girls #196 - Sketch Challenge

This week is sketch week over at Just Us Girls, and Nancy gave us this great sketch!

I recently purchased this new set from WPlus9 called Sweets and Treats.  It's got all these cute cupcakes in the set, so I colored up these three and added them and the sentiment in the circles.  I colored them to match the paper from October Afternoon called Cakewalk.  So many pretty designs to choose from in this paper pack!  I added some Star Dust Stickles to the cupcakes and then some baker's twine and a button to finish it off.

Stop by these blogs to see what the JUGs design team came up with.

My Time Made Easy Release Day and Just Us Girls #191 Sketch Challenge

Hey there friends!  Busy day on the blog today!  Today is the June release from My Time Made Easy and a new sketch challenge from Just Us Girls.  I'll get to that in a minute.  Here's my project for today.  Let's get into the template first.

This is the Welcome Home template, which was previously released.  I've used it quite a few times, once making it into a dog house by cutting off the chimney.   The new product on it is the paper.  It's called Tiny Town.  I have to say that the pictures don't do it justice!  I hate that!  I distressed it quite a bit because it was just too white and clean!  LOL!!  I cut the heart out of the center of the front panel using the BFF Valentine Tags cut file and added a piece of green paper behind it.

Here's a top view so you can see the pretty bow.  The template actually opens from the top.

Now for the card.  This is the great sketch that our lovely Elise created for us this week.

I used the same papers as in the template.  The house was cut using the new Home Sweet Home digital stamp set on the Tiny Town paper.  The image in the set has a heart in the center, so I cut a heart from the green paper using the BFF Valentine Tags cut file.  The sentiment is also from the new Home Sweet Home digital stamp set.  Lots of distressing here too!

I have lots of blogs for you to visit from both teams.  First us is the MTME team.

Just Us Girls #183 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  It's the first Saturday of the month which means sketch challenge at Just Us GirlsTangii is our hostess this week, and this is the great sketch she came up with for us.

Here's my attempt at it.  I used a lot of new Papertrey Ink supplies.  The stamp set is Birthday Style.  I started by stamping the confetti on the main panel in Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise, and Wild Wasabi inks.  Then using the same inks, I stamped the swags on the smaller panel.  I die cut the balloon and bow and stamped them in the green and pink inks.  I die cut birthday word using the Wonderful Words: Birthday die and pink paper.  The pattern paper is from Delovely by Cosmo Cricket, and was cut using the MFT large scallop die.   I added the ribbon, button, and baker's twine at the top.  I was only able to add two metal dots at the bottom.  I can't decide whether this is too busy or not.  What do you think?

We are so fortunate to have a fabulous new member joining our JUGs design team!  Please welcome her.
