Just Us Girls #445 - Photo Week

Hey friends!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Maria chose this one.  Lots of inspiration to be had from it!

Our friend's mom is celebrating her 100th birthday!  What an amazing thing!  And the great thing is that she is as sharp as a tack!  She loved her flowers and was always in her garden, so I had to have flowers on her card.  I used the yellow flowers in the vase and the striped rug in the photo as my inspiration.  I stamped the flowers in two coordinating colors, impressed the main panel with an impression plate, and added the striped paper.  I wanted the sentiment to say 100 birthday wishes, but there wasn't enough room, but I like the 100 wishes just as well. This panel was sprayed with some shimmer spritz, so it's really sparkly.  I stamped the envelope too, but forgot to photograph it!

Time Out #101 - Inspired by Words

The new challenge over at the Time Out blog is our inspired by words.  This is the quote to be inspire by.

I went literal...a no brainer!  I had this card designed in my head, but I had a heck of a time finding this Wrap it Up die!  It was of course in the last possible place I could look.  I still have lots of organizing to do!  I started by die cutting the box of the present with some old Cosmo Cricket pattern paper.  Then I matched it up with some equally old SU cardstock...ruby red.  It was a perfect match.  I die cut the ribbon, bow, and word from that cardstock.  I added rose sequins and some shimmer to the word die.

Just Us Girls #423 - Trend Week

Hey friends!  It's Trend week over at Just Us Girls, and Sue chose the galaxy background.  So fun!

These backgrounds are so cool to create.  They really don't look great while making them, but when done they look amazing.  And they look even better when the white paint is splattered on them (in my opinion!).  I first die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die then embossed the sentiment and fireworks with white embossing powder.  Once that was done, I started blending blues, purples, and black inks on the panel.  I buffed off any ink that remained on the white embossing.  Then I splattered it with the white paint and added the sequins for more shine.  This panel was mounted on fun foam to the base.

Check out what the JUGs design team and our January guest did with this trend on the JUGs blog.

Time Out Challenge #100 - Thankful

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone had a nice holiday.  Mine were a little different.  I had two funerals within days of each other.  Very sad this time of year.  But that's life.

Time Out is challenging you to be thankful.  I know I'm thankful for many things.  We are sponsored by Verve for this challenge.

I'm using one of Verve's stamp sets called Kindness Matters.  The flower is actually one stamp, and I stamped it three times, colored it, and cut it out to layer it with dimensional tape.  I stamped it on Bristol smooth white paper with Versafine onyx black in and embossed it with clear powder.  I colored each layer with Zig markers and watercolored it with a water brush.  The background was sponged with Distress Oxide inks to match the flower and spritzed it with water and shimmer spritz.  The sentiment was stamped and then the panel was die cut with the stitched scallop die.

Verve is giving one stamp set of their choice to our winner for this challenge.

We also have Julee from Verve and Bobby as our guests for this challenge.
