Just Us Girls #681 - CAS Week

Hello friends!  Lisa E. is our hostess this week over at Just Us Girls for the CAS week challenge.  She has chosen SILHOUETTE as our CAS focus.

I love silhouette images!  I remember when I was on a design team for a now defunct stamp company and one of the girls took a line image stamp and colored it in with a black copic marker to make it into a silhouette image.  It was the coolest thing I had ever seen, and I have been smitten with silhouette images since!

On to my card.  I needed a get well card for a guy friend who is going through some cancer issues, but it looks like he's going to be ok.  I used this image from Gina K and just created a black and white card.  I stamped the image on a panel that was die cut with a stitched rectangle.  Then I impressed that panel with a linen impression plate.  You probably can't see the cool texture it creates in this picture.  I'm not one to leave a panel smooth white...I always feel it's missing something.  So I use this impression plate a lot.  It's no longer available, so I'm glad I've hung onto it.  Next, I used a thin frame die to die cut a frame and die cut it again from black card stock. I inlaid the black frame into the panel.  I also love this look.  It really frames the image well.  I used pre-printed get well sentiment strips (I wish they were black with white text) and mounted them on foam strips.

Just Us Girls #680 - Photo/Moodboard Week

Hello!  The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is our Photo/Moodboard challenge.  Bobby has chosen a few great photos for this challenge.

I chose the colors from the photos.  I pulled navy, orange, aqua, and red to create with.  I used this hexagon stencil set from Taylored Expressions.  This stencil set creates four backgrounds on one sheet.  I chose this background to use for this card.  After stenciling the four colors, I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment and a hexagon in some of the stenciled hexagons with Versamark and embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I mounted that onto a navy card stock mat.

Just Us Girls #679 - Word Week

Hello friends!  I'm the hostess over at Just Us Girls this week for our Word Week challenge.  My niece is getting married in July and I thought WEDDING would be a good choice for this challenge.

I used to make wedding cakes, so this stamp/die/stencil set from Pink Fresh was perfect for this wedding card.  It reminded me of all the beautiful weddings my cakes were part of.  I started by stamping the images in black ink and adding color using the coordinating stencils.  I used gold Delicata ink on the cake.  I die cut the cake and flowers and then the cake stand from gold card stock.  I wanted a foiled background, so I used this Pink Fresh hot foil plate and gold foil to create it.  The sentiment was die cut from the same gold card stock as the cake stand as well as two more times from white card stock for dimension.  After adhering everything to the foiled background, I added gold crystals to it and to the cake stand.  The main panel was added to the card base using craft foam.

Just Us Girls #678 - Color Week

Hi friends!  Nancy has chosen pretty colors for the Just Us Girls Color Week challenge.  Pink and yellow!

I pulled out this layering die set from Honey Bee for this challenge.  My friend Cheryl gave me a birthday card using this flower and I loved it.  I had the die (never used it) and thought it would be pretty in these colors.  I die cut everything from white card stock and inked them with two pink inks and two yellows.  I shaded with the darker inks for dimension.  I adhered them on a panel that I stenciled by Tim Holtz with the lighter yellow ink and die cut it with a stitched rectangle.  I didn't want a black sentiment, so I die cut the sentiment from gray card stock.  Pink crystals were added for dimension.  I wasn't sure how yellow leaves were going to work, but I think it came out fine!

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our new guest for May, Claire, on the JUGs blog.  Welcome Claire!  I can't wait to see what you create this month for us!
