Just Us Girls #367 - Wild Card Week

Hi all!  I'm late getting this card done for Just Us Girls Wild Card Week challenge!  Too much Halloween partying with my niece and her boys last night!

Maria has chosen a cool challenge for this week.  It's to make the sentiment the focal point of your card. Love it!

I pulled out this happy birthday background die and went to work!  I die cut it from white cardstock and then got my card base cut and scored.  I laid the base on some scrap paper then laid the die cut on top.  I made tick marks between the words on the scrap paper to let me know where my colors had to change.  Then I went to work sponging the card base in rainbow color order.  When I was done, I hit it with the heat tool to make sure it was dry before adhering the die cut with liquid adhesive.  To finish it off, I just added some sequins in matching colors.

Time Out #69 - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hi friends!  This week over at Time Out our challenge is the Inspired by Words challenge.  We give you a quote to be inspired by.  The quote this week is:
"Give thanks with a grateful heart"
Perfect quote for the season we are going into.

As soon as I saw the word "grateful", I went immediately to this stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink.  I pulled out my Color Bursts and water color paper to create a fall watercolored background.  I die cut the leaf from it then stamped the veins in chocolate ink.  I die cut the frame/word and layered it over the leaf die cut.  I adhered this to a vanilla cardstock that was run through a woodgrain impression plate.  I added twine and gold sequins, mounted it on green cardstock, and then on the vanilla base.

Just Us Girls #366 - Photo Week

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and I cannot believe I'm already making Halloween cards!  Where did the time go?  Anyway, Chris chose this great photo to inspire us.

I'm using some old and new products here today.  I used a new stencil and sponged carved pumpkin and wilted violet inks through it.  Then I went to work on the main image.  I stamped the pumpkin on the circle die cut and also made a mask from it.  I put the mask on the stamped pumpkin and stamped the cat.  The mask makes the cat look like he's standing the pumpkin.  I also stamped some bats to fill in the white space.  Before adhering the main image to the card base, I put some washy tape behind it.  The last thing I did was die cut the sentiment from white and black cardstock and layered them together.

I used this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my starting point.

Just Us Girls #365 - Color Week

Hello friends!  It's Color Week over at Just Us Girls and we have a beautiful fall palette of colors!

I was trying to think of a way to incorporate all these fabulous colors together, and I thought of plaid.  That's always a fun pattern for fall.  I added more gold to the card by embossing the leaves with gold embossing powder.  I added the sentiment on a banner backed with rust, then I popped up a section of the plaid piece onto fun foam.  I of course added some more gold with sequins.

Time Out Challenge #68 - CASE Week

Hi friends!   This week over at the Time Out blog is our CASE week.

This is the beautiful card we are case-ing by Ardyth.  Such a beauty!

I went with the red, green, and black as well as the gold strip on the bottom.  I stamped this beautiful flower in red and scarlet colors and then some greens for the leaf and stem. The happy outline was stamped in black first then in the same red as the flower.  I added the gold strip on the bottom and the gold sequins.

Just Us Girls #364 - Trend Week

Hello all!  It's been a little quiet here on the ol' blog.  I don't know what's going on, but I've been so busy and haven't been home much.  I can't wait for things to settle down a bit.

This week is Trend Week over at Just Us Girls.  Sue chose a great one that we've been seeing a lot...pineapples.

I wasn't sure I even had anything pineapple, then remembered I had purchased this stamp and die set from Essentials by Ellen.  Score!  I decided to make a tag.  I first put three distress paints down on my craft mat and spritzed it with water then dragged the tag through it.  I liked the effect I got.  Then I stamped and die cut the pineapple and adhered it with dimensional tape.  The sentiments were stamped in black ink.  The colors looked a little flat, so I spritzed everything with shimmer spritz.  It's subtle, but really pretty.  Then I added the Nuvo drops, sequins, and ribbon.  I thought this would be cute to attach to a bag with some pina colada mix in it!
