Time Out #119 - Theme Challenge

Hi friends!  It's been a long time since I've posted here!  I've been on vacation in Hawaii for two weeks!  It was beautiful, but I'm glad to be home!
There's a new theme challenge over at the Time Out blog.
We are sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays for this challenge, so I pulled out my CAF stamps and got to work.  I stamped the flowers and leaves from Pretty Posies, masking when I needed.  I colored them with copic markers.  Then I stamped the sentiments from Sassy Smiles.  The secondary sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.  I cut the end into a flag and added it to the panel with dimensional tape.  I added star dust stickles to the flower centers and crystals to finish it off.

Stop by the Time Out blog to see more from the Time Out design team and our guest for this challenge, Marieke.

You can also see what CAS-ual Fridays is giving away to a winner!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays #189 - Dreaming of a White Christmas

Hi everyone!  The challenge this time around at CAS-ual Fridays is "Dreaming of a White Christmas".  This is my last post as a design team member.  I'd like to thank the CAS-ual Fridays team for having me these last six months!

I needed some tags so I pulled out the scallop tag dies and on the larger one, stamped and embossed the "falalalalala" stamp on the entire tag (it's hard to capture in the photo).  Then I die cut the smaller tag and stamped the sentiment and some snowflakes on it.  I sprayed that small tag with shimmer spritz.  I tied the two together with some dotted ribbon and was done!  I made a few of these to add to my tag stash.

CAS-ual Fridays #188

Hi friends!  Can you believe it's December 1st already?  Those holidays are just around the corner, and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is Winter Blues.

I wanted to try some watercolor resist.  Not sure I'm I love with this card, but I'm posting it anyway.  I started by embossing this lovely image onto watercolor paper with white embossing powder.  Then I used a lighter blue paint to color in the entire panel.  Then I went in with a darker blue and painted the bird and bow (I see I missed a piece of the bow...just noticing that now!).  Then I took some yellow paint and painted the pears.  I originally had the sentiment embossed on the bottom of the panel, but it didn't show up well.  So I cut the panel down and stamped the sentiment in some blue ink on white cardstock, cut it into a strip, and adhered it to the panel.  I spattered it with white copic paint.  It's mounted on a mustard panel to match the pears.  I also spritzed the entire panel with shimmer spritz too!

CAS-ual Fridays #187 - Gratitude with Altitude

Hi everyone!  The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is Gratitude with Altitude.  What does that mean, you ask?  I was a little stumped too until I saw what the design team came up with.  Basically it's giving some "lift" to your thankful sentiments.
This is what I came up with.  I bought this stamp set way before I was on the design team.  I just loved it and the sentiments.  I die cut the curve on the main piece then curved the green image on my Mini Misti to follow it and stamped it.  Then I stamped the top sentiment in orange.  The middle sentiment was stamped in Versamark on desert storm cardstock and embossed in white.  I made it a smidge longer than the main panel and cut the ends into flags.  This piece was raised from the main panel using dimensional tape.  To give the desert storm piece behind this panel some texture, I ran it through a quilted embossing folder.  Spectrum noir shimmer was added to the green image and sequins completed the card.

I used this week's CAS(E) this sketch for my layout.  Very cool one!

CAS-ual Fridays #188 - Anything But a Card

Hi friends!  I'm late getting this post up, but over at the CAS-ual Fridays blog, the challenge is to make anything but a card.  I love tags, and CF has some cute tag dies, so that's what I went with.

I love making tags for Christmas, and these just came out so cute.  I cannot wait to put them on some gifts!  I die cut four tags and found four different scraps of holiday paper and die cut pieces of them with the tag die as well.  I stamped the sentiments in Catherine Pooler inks and the snowflakes.  I added a strip of cardstock and Nuvo drops on top of that.  Then I added the ribbon and the button tied with twine

CAS-ual Fridays #185 - Think Pink

Hi friends!  It's October and it's Breast Cancer Awareness month, so the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is Think Pink.

I started with stamping several stamps to relay a message to all you ladies out there to get checked.  I stamped this on a piece of white cardstock and adhered it to a piece of some old SU pattern paper.  Then I ran that through the wonky stitches die.  I die cut the flowers and used the same pink ink used on the sentiments to stamp the flowers.  I added stickles to the flowers and some sequins and was finished.  Now I need to get up the courage to have my mammogram!  I absolutely hate going!  But I will make the appointment!  Sigh....

CAS-ual Fridays #184

Hi friends!  The challenge this week over at CAS-ual Fridays is a sketch challenge.  There aren't as many sketch challenges around today as there were a few years ago, so I was very happy to have one to follow today.

I love these heart music notes and haven't used them yet, so I thought it would be good to use for this sketch.  I die cut it three times and stacked them for more dimension.  Then I went to work on the background.  I taped this fun stencil to some Bristol smooth white cardstock and used Distress inks to create the background.  That was matted onto some black cardstock.  I added the white strip stamped with the sentiment and added black sequins to finish it off.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #182 - CASE a Girl Friday

Hi everyone!  The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to CASE a Girl Friday's card.  Cool challenge!

I chose this beautiful card by Michelle Lupton.  I love her style and this one really caught my eye for a number of obvious reasons!

Here's my case.  I went for the layout (which BTW was not easy to figure out...at least for me!), the embossed background and the pinks.  I started by embossing the Curtis background stamp in Versamark and embossed it with clear powder.  I added Distress Oxide inks over the embossing and blended it together.  Then I cut it in half diagonally and laid it on the base so I could center the sentiment between the two pieces.  I stamped the sentiment in black, attached the panels to the base, and added sequins.  My card does not do Michelle's justice, but I do like it.

CAS-ual Fridays #181

Hi friends!  The CAS-ual Fridays challenge is up and it's a color challenge....kraft and white.

These types of cards are so fast and easy to create!  This took practically no time at all!  I started by die cutting a kraft cardstock with a pierced scallop die.  Then I stamped and embossed this cool floral hot air balloon in white.  I stamped the sentiment with kraft ink and added the twine and white sequins.  This panel is popped up on fun foam onto the white base.

CAS-ual Fridays #180 - Friendship

Hello everyone!  There's a new challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays and the word to be inspired by is FRIENDSHIP.

CAS-ual Fridays just released four new stamp sets.  The "mwah!" comes from the one called Puffy Heart Love.  The font is so pretty!  I started by creating a background using Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth white cardstock.  I spattered it with white and black paint then die cut it out.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum in Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  The rest of the sentiment, "and there's nothing you can do about it!" is stamped on the inside (forgot to photograph it!).  I added black and white sequins to finish it off.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #179 - Dies Only

Hi friends!  There's a new challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  This time it's to use dies only...no stamps!  Let's see what you can do!
No automatic alt text available.

I decided to make a tag.  Since I couldn't use any stamps for a sentiment and I didn't have any CAS-ual Fridays sentiment dies (???), I used this paper with birthday greetings on it to get my message across.  The tag was cut from this paper and white cardstock as well to give it some stability.  Then I wanted to use these flower dies, but I wanted to add some interest.  I pulled out some watercolor paper scraps and my Color Burst powders and created some watercolored paper.  I die cut the flowers and leaves from these papers and layered them together with an enamel dot in the center.  The flower was added to the tag along with some ribbon and twine.  That paper used for the middle flower was created with yellow ochre Color Burst.  There are a bunch of colors in it!  I didn't expect that, but I went with it anyway.

CAS-ual Fridays #178 - Christmas in July

Hey it's Christmas in July over at CAS-ual Fridays!  Six more months until that holiday rolls around, and it's never too early to start making those cards!
No automatic alt text available.

I'm so happy with the way this card came out.  I started by stamping the mistletoe image onto white cardstock and masking paper.  I fussy cut the masking paper and masked the image.  Then I stamped those rectangles in red and green inks.  I removed the mask and colored the image.  I cut the piece and mounted it onto red cardstock.  This was mounted on fun foam.  I stamped the sentiment below the focal point.  The mistletoe was covered in glossy accents and I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops around the sentiment.  And that main panel was sprayed with shimmer.

I used this sketch which from CAS(E) this Sketch, but the challenge is over.  I just thought it was the perfect sketch for what I wanted to create with the mistletoe!

CAS-UAL Fridays Challenge #177 - TicTac Toe

There's a new challenge posted over at CAS-UAL Fridays.  It's a Tic Tac Toe challenge with lots of great choices.
No automatic alt text available.

I chose the first row down:  butterflies, monochromatic, and shaker card.  I chose the now retiring set Butterbows for the butterflies, various colors of orange for the monochromatic part, and I made it into a shaker.  I just love orange and these colors are just so bright and fun!  I smudged the Crystal drop on the lower left and it messed up my card right at the end!  UGH!!  I tried to cover it with a white gel pen.

Time Out #86 - Theme

I'm really losing track of time this week!  It's our last week of school, they have all been half days.  I'm late with this post, but it's up now!

The new challenge at Time Out is the Theme challenge, and the theme is celebrations with a twist to make a one-layer card.

We are sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays and I'm using the Special Delivery stamp set and coordinating die.  Who wouldn't want a pretty mailbox like this?  So cute!  I've colored it with copics and die cut it.  On the base, I used another die from CAS-ual Fridays called Bubble Label (I think it's retired.  I won this die a few years ago somehow!) to create the clouds.  I die cut it from some cardstock then used it as a stencil.  The grass was die cut also and added to the bottom.  My SIL and her fiancée are looking for a new home for when they get married, so I'll save this for that time to celebrate their purchase!

CAS-UAL Fridays Challenge #174

Hi everyone!  A new challenge has popped up on the CAS-ual Fridays blog!  This time it's a color challenge.
No automatic alt text available.

I started by creating the background in aqua and coral with the Wallflower stamp.  Then I die cut the scallop tags...one in gray and another in white.  The sentiment, also from the Wallflower stamp set, was stamped in gray.  I added some gray ribbon tied with aqua twine.  I finished it with aqua and coral sequins.

CAS-UAL Fridays Challenge #175 - Use Pattern Papers

Hey friends!  It's time for another CAS-ual Fridays challenge.  This time, we are breaking out the pattern papers.  Dust them off and get them on a card!
No automatic alt text available.
I have to admit that I have TONS of pattern paper that I just don't use anymore!  So this challenge was great for me to get out some paper and use it!  I love the colors in this pack.  The top is from the pack and it looked to plain, so I ran it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The sentiment from Wallflower was stamped with navy ink onto a matted oval die.  That horizontal piece was pinked with an edge die.  I stamped the flower from Pretty Posies and die cut it with the coordinating die.  I added sequins to finish it off.

You can see more from the CAS-ual Fridays team on the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.
