Just Us Girls #542 - Photo Week

Hi there!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Angie has chosen this great sunset photo.  It reminds me of the sunsets I saw in Hawaii.  So pretty!

I remembered when Kristina Werner played around with ink blending combinations, so I found her video for inspiration.  I chose this combination of carved pumpkin, peacock feathers, and chipped sapphire for my background.  Looking at the photo, I should have swapped out peacock feathers for one of the pinks in the Distress Oxide line.  Oh well, I'm happy with this.  After blending, I heat set it then stamped this silhouette image using Nocturne Versa Claire ink.  This panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle.  I die cut the sentiment and outline layer and adhered it to the panel as well as clear sequins.  Unfortunately, I needed another sympathy card.

Just Us Girls #541 - Color Week

Hello!  It's Color Week over at Just Us Girls, and Vicki has chosen one of my favorite color combinations.  Turquoise, Kraft, and White.

I had this die in my bin of new purchases, and I thought it would be a good fit for the colors.  I die cut the die from the three colors and placed them in the openings like a puzzle. That could have passed as a one-layer card, however I added the sentiment with craft foam for some dimension.  I added a kraft colored sequin in the center of each flower and added some star dust stickles in the center of each one.  If you save all the pieces, you could create three different cards.  I didn't have them all unfortunately, because I didn't think of it at the time!

Time Out #164 - Photo Inspiration

Hello everyone!  There's a fun new challenge over at the Time Out blog.  We have a very cool photo for you to be inspired by.

Funky Fossil Designs is our sponsor for this challenge.

I'm using a stencil from Funky Fossil and used several different oxide inks to get the rainbow like on the cake in the photo.  So cool (in my opinion!).  I layered that panel onto a black panel.  I like to use black with rainbow...I just think it makes it stand out more.  The sentiment was die cut and layered onto a vellum layer.  I then added silver crystals.  Very simple card, but I love all the color.

Just Us Girls #540 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  Hoping you are all well in these trying times.

We have a new challenge over at Just Us Girls.  This week it's our Trend Week challenge and Ina has chosen for us to
Frame It!

I needed a graduation card for one young man that is missing out on a lot of fun times in his high school senior year, just like all seniors this year.  His school colors are burgundy and white so this is what I came up with.  To keep with the challenge I framed the congrats sentiment and grad cap with this grid frame.  I added it with spray adhesive then added the sentiment and grad hat which were popped up with craft foam.  I made the tassel gold, so I added yellow crystals for some sparkle as well as some shimmer on the sentiment and grad cap.

Just Us Girls #539 - Sunshine

Hey friends!  I hope today finds you well.  The new challenge over at Just Us Girls is a Word Week challenge.  Maria is hostess and chose sunshine, something I am looking forward to!

I had these new stamps and dies from Concord & 9th sitting on my desk for a bit and put them to work!  I stamped the rainbow directly onto the card base in four different colors.  Then I die cut the sun rays three times from yellow cardstock and stacked them.  They were added to the card base.  The clouds were die cut and stamped with the outline.  I also die cut them from craft foam for dimension and stacked.  They were also added to the card base.  The sentiment was stamped in the corner.  I created the red cardstock for the hearts by using the direct to paper technique to get the same color as the rainbow.  They were die cut as well and added along with some sequins.  Shimmer was added too.  I rounded the corners to soften the edges.

I'd also like to welcome our guest designer for the month of June, Mugdha.

Time Out #163 - Inspired by Words

Hello friends. I hope everyone is safe today.  Terrible things going on in this world.  I cannot find the words to express what I'm feeling, so I'll just say I'm praying for everyone today.
It's time for another Time Out challenge, and this time it's our Inspired by Words challenge.  I think it's so appropriate today.
We are sponsored by STAMPlorations for this challenge, and I have used the most beautiful stamp and perfect sentiment for it.
I love this image, so much so that I got it twice!  I didn't realize I already had it!  That shows how much I love this Blossom Sprays #2 set.  And the sentiment is from another set called Blossoming that I could not find on their site anymore.  Maybe it's retired?  Not sure.  I stamped the image in Gina K's amalgam ink and colored it with copic markers.  It's such an easy image to color.  I outlined it with a gray marker for some shadow.  The sentiment was stamped with Versa Clarie nocturne ink.  I die cut the panel with a scalloped die and added sequins and shimmer to it.  That panel was added to the fog card base with craft foam.
