Just Us Girls #672 - CAS Challenge

Hello friends!  This week's challenge over at Just Us Girls is our CAS challenge.  Sue is hosting this challenge and has chosen 1/3 or less, meaning only 1/3 or less of your card should be used.

I chose this silhouette set from Gina K.  I stamped the image in Versafine onyx black on the bottom of the card.  I wanted some color and thought about (and searched for) the Kaleidoscope ink pad.  Remember those?  I love them!  I stamped the sentiment using this pad and then die cut it with the coordinating die.  I stamped the secondary sentiment above it in black.  I love how simple this card is and how the ink really punched it up.

So this card was the first one I made.  I only thought about the 1/3 or less part of the challenge, not so much the CAS part!  The girls told me to post it, but I don't think it fits the CAS challenge.  So I'm just going to post it anyway as a secondary card.  I just adore these little mice.  I just started cross stitching again last summer.  I did this craft 40 years ago and probably had to put it aside because of work, etc.  I find it so refreshing once again and have several finished pieces and several pieces in the works!  So I had to have this stamp/die set.

Just Us Girls #671 - Photo or Moodboard Challenge

The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is hosted by Elizabeth and she has chosen this amazing moodboard.  I absolutely love the lemons!

I was in the Amalfi Coast in Italy last April, and the lemons were abundant!  Everywhere you looked you saw lemon trees and lemon everything as far as souvenirs were concerned.  I of course came home with some (and I wanted to include them in my photo and forgot!).
Anyway, my card uses the Lemons and Blueberries set from Pink Fresh.  I started by adhering the coordinating washi tape onto some white cardstock.  The die then cut out all the pieces perfectly.  I only used the wreath and one of the lemon bouquets on my card.  I actually cut the wreath in half to make it bigger which allowed me to adhere the white sentiment strip across it.  I adhered the lemon bouquet on it as well.  The yellow gingham pattern paper was adhered to the base then I adhered the wreath and sentiment strip.  I added yellow crystals as well.

Just Us Girls #670 - Word Week

Hello friends!  This week over at Just Us Girls, Elizabeth has chosen the word RAINBOW for our Word Week challenge.  So many options!

I have had these rainbow stamps and dies from Erin Lee Creative for a long time, and this is the first time I'm breaking them out!  I started by die cutting the rainbow in different card stock colors as well as the sun.  I taped the rays on the back side to keep them together.  Before adhering them to the card, I stamped the main sentiment.  Then I was able to adhere the rainbow and stamp the secondary sentiment, which I had to curve on the MISTI to match the curve of the rainbow.  I then added the sun using dimensionals.  I also added star dust stickles to the rays of the sun and some crystals for that shimmer I love.

Just Us Girls #669 - Color Week

Hello!  Ina has chosen these beautiful colors for the Color Week challenge at Just Us Girls this week.  Let's have some fun with them!

I have had this idea to create a card with strips on a diagonal for a while.  I love this design and thought it would work well with these colors.  I used a strip die in two sizes to create the strips.  The blue and yellow strips are larger than the black strips.  I adhered double sided tape in the two inch size (I think) on a piece of white cardstock then adhered the strips on a diagonal.  Once done, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut it down.  I then die cut the floral frame and sentiment from black and yellow card stock.  I layered the flower and sentiment, offsetting them.  I added crystals and was done!  Easy card, but it's very bold!

Just Us Girls #668 - CAS Week

Hello!  Nancy has a great challenge this week over at Just Us Girls for our CAS week.
Coloring!

I haven't been coloring too much lately, and it felt good to get out the copics and get them going again.  The next holiday is St. Patrick's Day and I pulled out this cute lucky gnome to color up.  After coloring up the image, I die cut it and then again twice more to stack for dimension.  I added stenciled shamrocks on the side and a stamped sentiment.  I had to add some shine, so I used some yellow stickles on the buckle on is hat as well as on the shamrock in his hand.  I'm liking these CAS cards!

Just Us Girls #667 - Photo or Moodboard Week

Hi friends!  Just Us Girls has a new challenge this week that we are calling Photo or Moodboard Week.  You can see the Moodboard below that our hostess, Vicki, chose.

I looked at that moodboard and saw the yellow and purple colors as well as the several roses.  So I pulled out this rose set from Pink Fresh that has a stamp set, stencil set and die in the collection.  I started with the layering stencils (there are 5 of them) and used two colors for each of the roses and the leaves.  I then used the stamp to stamp the black outline and the die to cut it out.  I also die cut it two more times to stack for dimension.  Shimmer was added for some shine to the roses.  I used another stencil to ink up the plain background with yellow ink.  I stamped the sentiment and added crystals to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #666 - Word Week

Hello!  Carol is the hostess this week for the Word Week challenge at Just Us Girls.  She chose the word SPARKLE.

I love sparkle and almost every one of my cards has some sort of sparkle on it.  I went to my "sparkle drawer" of glitter gels and embossing powders and found a yellow glitter gel.  When I went to use it, I found it had dried up.  I have several and most were dried up.  Anyone know how to reconstitute them?  So I changed direction and used this gift box layered stencil with some colored inks, Versamark ink and a glitter embossing powder.  I used pink, orange, and yellow inks, layering them where they met.  I then used the same inks to add the designs on them.  For the bows, I mixed the colors up, putting yellow on pink, pink on orange, and orange on yellow.  Then, using the same bow stencil, I used Versamark ink and then embossed it with the glitter embossing powder.  I used the same colors on the word die, covered it with Versamark and the glitter embossing powder.  I die cut the shadow die from white card stock and stacked the word die for dimension.

I leaned the card into the light to show more of the sparkle from the glitter embossing powder.
This card looks so washed out here, but it really is quite colorful even though the colors are soft.

Just Us Girls #665 - Color Week

The new challenge over at Just Us Girls is our Color Week challenge, and Lisa E. has chosen pink, kraft and white.

Here I go with stencils again!  I've never tried Distress Oxide inks on darker card stocks before and when I was thinking about this challenge, I knew I wanted to try it.  I chose this Altenew layered stencil and used Kitsch Flamingo for the first layer and Picked Raspberry for the second layer.  (The colors look orchid, but really are pinks.)  I think I should have used a sentiment that was just a die, not a stamped sentiment but this was sitting on my desk and I thought it would make a nice Valentine card.  I stacked that sentiment and added crystals.

Just Us Girls #664 - CAS Week

Hello!  This is one of the new challenges over at Just Us Girls.  It's CAS Week with a theme.  Carol has chosen birthday for the theme and the CAS description is in the picture below.

I have a hard time with CAS!  You'd think it would be simple, however, I just want to add things!  I stamped, colored with copics and die cut this cute gnome.  I love gnomes! I simply wanted to add him to the card base, but it was just too plain so I added some pink ink behind him.  It's really hard to see, but in real life you can see it well.  I added the sentiment and added the XOs with some crystals inside the Os.  I also added shimmer to the heart.  To add more interest, I rounded the bottom corners.

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our January guest, Jules, on the JUGs blog.  This is Jules' last week with us and I'd like to thank her for joining us this month and creating such beautiful cards!

Just Us Girls #663 - Photo/Mood Board Week

Hello friends!  This is our new challenge for this year at Just Us Girls...Photo or Mood Board.  We thought we'd kick up the photo week challenge by making a mood board for you to ponder.

I saw those daisies and book print when I looked at this mood board.  I pulled out this daisy set from Simon Says Stamp and stamped it onto white card stock.  I colored the petals with a blue violet copic marker to give it some color (my photos have been terrible lately...not sure why) and I colored the centers as much as I could with a yellow marker.  To pull in the book print, I used a word background stamp to stamp over the image with a light gray ink.  I love this look.  I finished it with a stacked die cut sentiment and some crystals.

Just Us Girls #662 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls and Sue has chosen an appropriate word for the upcoming holiday in a few weeks:  HEART.

I don't know about you, but I love stencils!  I chose to use this layering stencil from Trinity Stamps. I started with the largest heart stencil and the lightest pink and worked my way down to the smallest heart stencil and the darkest pink.  The stencils perfectly layer on top of each other to get this effect.  I die cut it with a stitched rectangle so the heart was coming off the edge.  Then I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder for some shine and die cut it.  I die cut it two more times and layered it for dimension.  I added this panel to a pink panel and added crystals to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #661 - Color Week

Hello friends!  Happy New Year!  I hope your holidays were wonderful.

Just Us Girls is back from a month long hiatus and the first challenge of the year is Color Week and I'm the hostess.  I hope you like the colors I chose!

I wanted to used snowflakes for this challenge and have been mulling it over for a while.  I found this layered snowflake from the now defunct Reverse Confetti.  I started by die cutting the backing piece from white, the next layer from dark blue, and added the accents in light blue and dark blue.  I added shimmer to it and then a white pearl to the center.  I used a snowflake stencil with tumbled glass ink on the background piece.  I die cut that piece with a stitched rectangle then with a thin frame die.  I also die cut the thin frame from navy cardstock and added it to the background.  The sentiment was stamped with Juniper ink.  My niece's birthday is next week, so this will be sent to her.
