Just Us Girls #503 - Wild Card Week

Hey friends!  It's the fifth Saturday of August (and the last day of August, boo-hoo) and it's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls.  Sue wants us to splash something on our cards for this challenge.  Easy enough!

I went to a stamp and scrap show last weekend here in Buffalo, NY and bought lots of new stuff with my friend Cheryl.  This thinlits die from Tim Holtz was one of them.  I kept it simple and cased the picture on the package.  I die cut the die and leaves first, then sponged distress oxide ink behind them with the Taylored Expressions brushes to get the soft colors.  For the challenge, I splashed some of the new Lawn Fawn liquid stardust and watered down peeled paint distress oxide on the panel.  The sentiment was stamped in C. Pooler black jack ink.  I wanted a softer color so I used this instead of black.  I also added crystals to finish it off and some of the liquid stardust on the berries in the center of the flower.  This panel is mounted on craft foam for dimension.  First card for the holidays done!

You can see more from the JUGs design team and Tristan Dawes, our August guest, on the JUGs blog. This is her last challenge with us for the month and I'd like to thank her for being such an awesome guest.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #502 - Photo Inspiration

He friends!  It's Photo Inspiration week at Just Us Girls.  Look at this pretty picture Bobby chose. So many options!

My eyes went to that green jar and the purple flowers.  I pulled out some older Papertrey Ink stamps for this.  I stamped and die cut the flowers then watercolored them with distress inks.  I then die cut a scalloped panel and stamped the jar.  I "filled" it with some green ink that is second generation stamping (it's a little darker than I anticipated).  The flowers are mounted on craft foam I die cut with the flower die and the panel is mounted on craft foam as well.  I mounted that on some plaid pattern paper and added sequins and shimmer.  The center of the flowers were dotted with a white gel pen.

Time Out #142 - Fashionable

Hello!  A new challenge is posted over at the Time Out blog.  This time we are challenging you to be FASHIONABLE.

We are sponsored by Stamplorations for this challenge, and I chose this set called City Girl.  I've been eyeing this set for a while!  I think it's just so cool.  I started with this newer Altenew background stamp and stamped it in two colors.  I stamped it in yellow then turned it around and stamped it in green.  Then I stamped the image and sentiments.  I love to add sequins to all my cards too!

Just Us Girls #500!!! - Trend Week

Hello friends!  Just Us Girls is celebrating its 500th challenge!  We started this challenge blog way back in October of 2009.  Maria and I are the original members, and we've had so many great designers on the team since then as well as so many guest designers!  I love this challenge and the girls I've "met" through it.  I also want to give a shout out to Vicki who coordinates everything for us and Nancy who creates these fabulous graphics for us.

Vicki also coordinated the prizes from three different sponsors.  Check out the JUGs blog for more information.

The trend challenge is CIRCLES.

I found these birds and flowers on my desk.  I colored them a while ago and forgot about them.  To get the circles in the card, I used a new Altenew stencil called Bubble Wrap and tumbled glass distress oxide ink.  I die cut that panel with a stitched rectangle and adhered it to the card base.  Then I just layered the birds (on dimensionals) and flowers on that panel along with two sentiment strips.  I added shimmer to them and then crystals for more shine.  Easy peasy card because of the pre-colored images!

Just Us Girls #499 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  It's the beginning of August and it's still SUMMER!  That's the word for Word Week over at Just Us Girls chosen by Carol. We just don't want it to end!

So I decided to use this cute set from a new company called The Greetery (such a cute name too!).  This set is called Feelin' Fan-Sea and the main images (this octopus and a starfish) are just so adorable.  I looked on their website to see how this octopus was colored and settled on green. I added the cute purple bow to her head and blue on the dots.  I added shimmer and glossy accents to them.   The fish were colored with various colors.  The "water" was created with a background stamp.  I added the pattern paper strip to which I scalloped the edges with a scallop edge die.  To finish it off, I added the sentiment and some raindrops.

Time Out #141 - Theme Challenge

Hi friends! Happy August!  Summer sure is flying by!
It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  This is our theme challenge, and the theme is RELAXATION.
Newton's Nook is our sponsor for this challenge.  I chose to use this cute Summer Vacation stamp and die set for my card.  What better way to relax than on a beach on a sunny day under an umbrella?  Maybe a drink in hand?  LOL!  I started by coloring this cute image with copic markers then die cutting it with the matching die.  Then I created the background by sponging in clouds with a stencil and then sponging in the water.  The sand was created with stitched dies using kraft cardstock.  I added the pail of sand and the die cut sun before stamping the sentiment. I added glossy accents to the sunglasses and yellow crystals.  There is also shimmer on the umbrella, sun and pail.  I'm not sure how I feel about the dots I put on the sand.  :-(
