Just Us Girls #358 - Photo Week

Just Us Girls has a fabulous photo for your inspiration this week.  Judy found this painting and it has so much to inspire us!

Here's a close-up of the photo.

I chose the colors as my inspiration as well as the butterflies.  I used Brushos as my color medium.  First I embossed the butterflies with Versamark ink and white embossing powder on watercolor paper.  Then I just put some Brusho on the paper and spritzed it with water.  I used a paint brush to move the color around a bit to get the effect I wanted.  I then die cut a banner and stamped the sentiment.  This piece was mounted on fun foam and added to the peach mat.  I added white sequins, of course!  I also rounded the one bottom corner for some interest.

Just Us Girls #357 - Color Week

Hi friends!  I'm the hostess at Just Us Girls this week for our color challenge.   I saw a box at Hobby Lobby a while ago and loved the colors and wanted to use them on a card.  The box was white and had aqua and kraft triangles on it.  So those are the colors I chose.

This is the box I saw that inspired my color choices.

I wanted to incorporate the triangles on that box and here's what I came up with.  I used a triangle background stamp and some aqua ink for the bottom part of the card.  I used a vine die as a border and stamped and die cut the flowers and leaves.  I stamped more aqua flowers and added the sequins and the stacked thanks die.  I also added some white dots on the flowers with a white gel pen.  For some shimmer, I used a Spectrum Noir crystal clear brush.

I used this week's CAS(E) this Sketch as my layout inspiration.

Time Out Challenge #64 - CASE

Hi friends!  For our challenge this time over at the Time Out blog, we were challenged to CASE a card.

This is the fun card we are CASE-ing by Julia Alterman.  So much inspiration to take away from it!

I went pretty literal my card. (And so did my teammate Joyce!  Our cards are almost identical!)  First I worked on the background.  I watercolored the sky on watercolor paper using Distress inks.  Then I die cut the frame from pattern paper.  I did some die cutting for the clouds, plane, and banner then stamped the image and banner.  The clouds were covered with sparkle and I added the Nuvo dots.  The frame was adhered onto the watercolor piece with fun foam.  The plane and banner are on dimensionals too.

Just Us Girls #356 - Trend Week

Happy Saturday!  It's Trend Week over at Just Us Girls and the trend Ina chose is water-coloring!  I love to watercolor and I tried something new (to me!).

I've been watching Kristina Werner using the Zig Clean Color Brush markers on Bristol Smooth White cardstock.  She recommends this paper for this type of watercoloring.  So I bought some of the paper and went to work with the Zigs.  My friend Cheryl and I went to a watercolor class at our LSS taught by Sandy Allnock a couple of months ago.  She used these Art Impression stamps to teach the class, and of course we had to buy some!  This birdhouses stamp is one of the few I purchases.  I stamped it in Archival jet black ink and watercolored it with the Zigs.  I sort of used the image on the package as my guide.  It was watercolored very "loosely", so that's what I did.  It made coloring it very easy.  Then I took the AI foliage stamp and I added the color to the stamp with a green Zig then stamped it a few times on the bottom.  Lastly, I added some blue around the image for the sky.  I die cut the panel with a stitched rounded square die, added fun foam to it and some Nuvo crystal drops.  The kraft panel was run though a woodgrain impression plate and cut with a stitched rectangle die.

Just Us Girls #355 - Word Week

Hi friends!  There's a great challenge over at Just Us Girls this week.  It's Word Week and Sharyn chose the word "water".

I recently purchased three of these color layering stamp sets from Hero Arts and one of them was this goldfish set.  I was kind of bummed because I thought I had the dies for this set, but I guess I didn't!  It must have been sold out when I bought the stamp set.  You better believe they are on my next craft purchase!  I'm so spoiled with these dies lately!  So I had to change my design plans.  I decided to do some masking.  I stamped the fish using the Mini Misti and then masked them.  I also masked off the center portion of the panel and sponged some distress inks.  I spattered some water on it to make it look more like water.  Those orange and yellow dots are Nuvo Crystal Drops.  There's some shimmer on the fish too.

Time Out #63 - Theme Challenge with a Twist

Hi everyone!  The Time Out challenge this time around is our Theme Challenge with an optional twist.  The theme is "holiday" and the optional twist is "no stamping" (except the sentiment!).

Since the twist on this challenge was not to stamp anything (except the sentiment), I went to my holiday dies and chose this lovely one.  I die cut it from some white glitter paper and adhered it to turquoise cardstock.  Then I heat embossed the sentiment in white.  I added some Nuvo crystal drops and covered them in fine glitter to match the glitter paper.  Easy peasy!

This challenge is sponsored by Uniko.  Check out the Time Out blog to read more about the prize, see more inspiration from the Time Out design team, and our guest, Aileen.

Thanks for stopping by!
