Just Us Girls #316 - Photo Week

Happy Saturday!  Before I start talking about stamping, I have to tell you that I went to see Sir Paul McCartney in concert on Thursday night!  It was a great concert!  I'm a diehard Rolling Stones fan, but the Beatles are a close second, and Paul was always my favorite Beatle!  Paul didn't put on a show like the Stones do, but it was great nonetheless.  I loved all the Beatles and Wings songs he did and Hey Jude was priceless!  He performed for 3 hours and did two encores!  So much fun!

Ok, back to stamping!  This week over at Just Us Girls it's Photo Week.  Ina chose this graphic photo for us to be inspired by.

I think almost everyone did something with those hexagons...how could you not?  I saw that potted succulent plant and immediately thought of this Mama Elephant stamp set I had, so I started with that.  I die cut and stamped it then colored it with copics.  I added some Wink of Stella to it too.  Then I took some desert storm paper and added some texture paste with a Tim Holtz honeycomb stencil. That panel was accented with some polka dot paper, the die cut sentiment, and some enamel dots and was adhered to a black panel.  That panel was popped up with fun foam.  The potted plant was also popped up for dimension.  That's it!  Ob-la-di, ob-la-da!  (A Beatles's song...sorry.  I can't get those songs out of my head!)

Time Out Challenge #29 - Inspired by Words

Hi friends!  It's time for another Time Out challenge!  This week is our Inspired by Words challenge, and here is the phrase we want you to be inspired by:
"You can't make a rainbow without a little rain"

I went with the rainbow theme using the colors of the rainbow.  I recently saw this post by Wendy Vecchi using her borders stencil.  I was at my local stamp store last week and they had this stencil, so I bought it.  I thought I'd use it for this challenge with these rainbow colors.  I used distress inks and love the outcome!  The sentiment is from a Mama Elephant stamp set.  The stars are from the same set.  All the stars were dabbed with some Wink of Stella shimmer.  You can't see it too well, but I also shimmered up one diamond in each row.

I'm also entering this in the Runway Inspired Challenge for this week.  Perfect match!

Stop by the Time Out blog to see more inspiration from the design team and our Guest Designer Michele Henderson!

Time Out #23 Reminder

Hi friends!  Have your seen our Time Out Challenge?  We still have another week to go on this one.  The challenge is to make a Valentine's Day card with the option of using hearts.

I made another card for this challenge.  I did some watercoloring (sort of) for my background.  All I did was put some distress inks on my clear block, spritzed it with water, and smooshed my water color paper into it.  Once I dried it, I sprinkled some water droplets on it to remove some color.  I rounded the corners then cut it almost in half.  The sentiments were stamped then added the cup on dimensionals.  I added some little white hearts that were die cut from a larger die that I thought I was going to use, but didn't (these were the left over pieces from the die cut).  The larger red heart was put on dimensionals too.

The sketch was from last week's Freshly Made Sketches (I missed the deadline but this card was made before this challenge was over!).

We have STAMPlorations sponsoring us this week, so there are prizes involved in playing our challenge this week.  Here's the deets:
1. Twist with us (use hearts) and we will do a random draw.  The winner will get a $15 voucher for the store.
2. Comment on Shery's post at STAMPlorations for this challenge and we will do a random draw .  The winner will get a stencil pack from STAMPlorations.

We also have a guest joining us this week...Valentyna (perfect name for our challenge too!).

Just Us Girls #236 - Technique Challenge

Hello friends!  I'm hostess this week over at Just Us Girls and it's technique week.  I chose this water colored background challenge weeks ago, and it seems that I chose a popular technique!   It's all the rage in blogland recently!

I chose to do something very simple with my card.  I just took a piece of Tim Holtz water color paper and embossed the sentiment with Versamark ink and white powder.  Then I wet the paper with a paint brush where I wanted the ink to be, and started coloring.  I used reinkers here because they seemed to give me more vibrant colors.  To finish it off I added a gingham ribbon and some sequins.

You can see more water colored inspiration from the JUGs DT and our guest at these blogs.
