Just Us Girls #181 - Photo Inspiration

Hi everyone!  I'm excited about the card I made for this week's Just Us Girls Photo Inspiration challenge Andrea chose these great photos for our inspiration, and I took the colors from it for my inspiration.  I've also been taking the Pattern Play classes from Online Card Classes this week.  I love these classes that these girls do.  I think I've taken every one of their classes.  They are chock full of techniques and great ideas and tips.

Here are the inspiration photos for the challenge.

So here's the card I made for this week's challenge.  I totally CASED Kristina Werner's sample card from the class, but it was just so pretty I just had to CASE it!  The "quilted" panel was all made from strips of paper placed on the diagonal and adhered together.  I used Basic Grey's Hopscotch paper pad.  It was pretty close to the colors in the inspiration photos.  The tea cups are from Taylored Expressions called Tea-riffic.  They were cut with the die that came with the set and colored with copic markers.  I added some Star Dust Stickles for some sparkle.  Kristina added her image on a piece of vellum so the quilted pattern can show through.  I don't use vellum enough, so I used it as well.  It was cut with a Spellbinder's die.  The sentiment is from PTI's Simple Little Things and was stamped in brown ink on a WPlus9 flag die.  I added some heart bling to finish it off.  The ivory cardstock was run through PTI's linen plate (hard to see) and it was all mounted on Blushing Bride carstock.  I just love this card!

Ok, so I've told you why I was excited about this post, now I have to tell you why I've been dreading this post.  This will be Andrea's last challenge with us as a JUGS DT member.  She has decided to step down due to a busy life.  I am honestly sad to see her go as she is one of the sweetest people have had the privilege of knowing in this crafting industry.  My best wishes go out to her!

The JUGS DT has some great inspiration for you this week.  Stop by these blogs and see for yourself!

Just Us Girls #180 - St. Patrick's Color Challenge

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  My hubby always says everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day.  I think this is his favorite holiday and all.  He loves Guinness beer!

Just Us Girls is getting in the partying spirit with St. Patrick's Day inspired colors.

I wanted to made a shamrock with heart dies.  I used My Favorite Things Hearts a Plenty die and Wild Wasabi paper.  I then used a flourish from PTI's Fancy Flourishes for the stem.  The side design was created using PTI's Background Basics: Retro stamp set and Pumpkin Pie ink.  The sentiment is from PTI's Mega Mixed Messages set.  I finished it off with a white sheer ribbon and some Twinkle Goosebumps from Queen & Co.  This was all mounted on a Wild Wasabi base.

The Just Us Girls design team has some great cards using these colors.  You can see them here.

Just Us Girls - Technique Challenge #179

Happy Saturday!  This week just blew right by me!

Just Us Girls has a fun and easy technique for you this week brought to us by our very clever Vicki.  She wants us to use a negative die cut on our creations.

My card came together really quickly and I used a pretty simple and classic layout.  The hardest part was deciding which die to use!  I decided on the Polka Dot Parade #1 bunny die from PTI 's Polka Dot Parade #1 mini stamp set since Easter is coming soon and I could use some Easter cards.  I once again used October Afternoon's Sidewalks paper.  It's just so springy!   I added a little pom for his tail.

That's it from me!  Check out these blogs for more fabulous inspiration!

My Time Made Easy - A Year in Review

Today the My Time Made Easy design team is posting their year in review projects.  I chose to use the A Box is a Box template.  I have a Christening to go to in a few weeks for my husband's cousin's adopted daughter.  I haven't seen her yet, but I hear she's cute, sweet, and super tiny!  I love this box because it has a cut-out in the lid.  The original template has a tree, leaf, flower, or snowflake to choose from, but you can use any cut file that you desire.  I wanted a cross for my gift box, so I purchased it from the Silhouette store.  It worked perfectly!  I edged the lid with a lacy trim that's a Martha Stewart punch.  The digital paper I'm using on this project is from Grammy's Pretty Patterns.

The pretty bow was made using the Bow Tied cut file.  I love that bow and the green polka dot paper!  I finished it off with a pretty heart button.

While I was in the Silhouette store, I realized I had some money on a gift card that I got when I purchased my Silhouette.  So I decided to purchase this card base.  I saw it on this blogpost today, and thought it would be accompany the box nicely.  The cross is the cut-out from the box.  I layered it onto the Cornice Trimmed Oval cut file, and added liquid pearls.  I didn't take a picture of the inside, but I stamped "Congratulations" from the Senitmental Occasions stamp set.

The entire team, including our four new members, is all posting today.  Stop by these blogs.

Colour Q Challenge

This is my second post today!  Woohoo!  I'm on a roll!  I was looking through some challenges this morning, and this one from Colour Q really caught my eye.

Great color combo, huh?  I thought so!  I didn't have the Starfruit ink or the Midnight Muse, but they are close matched to Crushed Curry and Blue Bayou, which is what I ended up using.  I use PTI's Irresistibly Ikat stamp set.  Love the graphic designs in this set.  I created my own background using the four challenge colors.  For the image, I stamped the flower part in the Crushed Curry ink, then again in the Cool Caribbean ink for the leaves and stem.  I rounded the corners cause there seemed to be so much white on top and it just softened it a bit.

I used this sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches once again.  Great sketch!

Thanks for stopping by again!  I'll be back tomorrow with the My Time Made Easy Year in Review post.  See you then!

Hands of Time

Hi friends!  Instead of sitting around this beautiful Sunday morning, I was up before 8:00 am cleaning (I usually don't get moving until 11:00 am, so this is a monumental feat for me!) and crafting.  I saw the Sweet Sunday sketch last night on Facebook, and knew I had to make something with it!

Papertrey's Hands of Time stamp set was the perfect choice for this sketch.  I stamped the smaller of the two clock faces in Soft Suede ink, and then stamped the Roman numerals in Riding Hood Red ink.  My color palette came from this Bo Bunny paper called Timepiece.  I stamped the clock hands in red and fussy cut them.  They are attached with a brown pearl.  I added more pearls in the upper corner.  I cut the flags myself and added the brown SU grosgrain ribbon.

Here's the inside.  I'm sending this to our friends Valerie and Norman.  We visited them at their beautiful townhome in Lake Placid on President's Day weekend.  They were such lovely hosts, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!  We went snowshoeing, shopping, visited an ice castle (the temps were hovering around the 2 degree Fahrenheit mark all weekend!), and Kevin went on the Skeleton ride down the bobsled run.  The Skeleton is the Luge, but head first!  He had a ball!

Here are a couple of pictures I took.  This first one is of Whiteface Mountain.  I believe that vertical structure in front was the Olympic torch.  Isn't this a beautiful picture?  It was sunny all weekend, but the ski resort was closed all weekend because of wind.  :-( for the boys!

Here's Kevin and I at the bobsled run.  You can see the flags flying in the backgound.  Quite windy!

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my little adventure!

Just Us Girls #178 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another challenge from Just Us Girls and we have a sketch for you this week.  I'm the hostess and I came up with this sketch based on a card I did a while ago.  I hope you like it.

So this is my take on the sketch.  I used the Fancy Folk Art stamp set and die from PTI and colored it to match this paper called Sidewalks by October Afternoon.  I popped up each of the flowers on dimensionals.  I also added Star Dust Stickles to the dots.  The sentiment is from Stylish Sentiments:  Birthdays from PTI also.

Stop by the JUGs blog and design team blogs to see what they did with this sketch.

My Time Made Easy Release Day - Spring Has Sprung!

Happy March!  We are getting so close to Spring!  And because it's the first day of March, My Time Made Easy has a new release!  We have two new templates, a new cut file, some really cute digi images, and new digital paper!  You can see all the new products here.

Today I'm using the new Display template.  It's a really cute template that comes with decorative pieces that can make this template into a frog!  So cute!  I'm using it as a container for these cute chocolate guys.  I cut the template from Night of Navy cardstock to match the new Spring Has Sprung digital paper pack.  The top label is from the Fabulous Frames cut file and the bunny is from the Some Punny Easter digital stamp set.  I added a button for his cute tail!

I had some paper left over, so I made a card to match.  I used the same elements from the template.  The sentiment is from Sentimental Occasions acrylic stamp set, and the flowers are from Sensational Stems acrylic stamp set.  I added another cute bunny!

This was the best photo I could get of the template and card.  Cute gift set for Easter!

We have some news happening over at My Time Made Easy.  Tina Hale has stepped down as design team member, and while she couldn't be replaced, we decided to add more designers to our team.  Please welcome the following designers.
