Hi everyone! I'm playing in a newer challenge called Compendium of Curiosities 3. It's a very clever challenge in that the challenges are taken from techniques in Tim Holtz's newest book, Compendium of Curiosities 3. The team gives you the name of the technique and the page number on which you can find the directions to the technique. We are not allowed to give instructions on how to do the technique...the idea is that you have to purchase the book in order to find the technique. I love Tim's techniques, so I purchased the book in order to play along.
This technique is called Painted Industrial and it's on page 46 of the book.
Here's my take on the technique. Tim uses black soot distress paint, but I didn't have that one so I used salty ocean distress paint for the base of my tin.
The embossing folder I used is from Darice I believe. I added some pink pearls in the center of the swirls. I also added them to the butterfly. To finish off the rim, I added some pink ric-rac ribbon.
Here's a close up of the butterfly. I used a different embossing folder and picked raspberry distress paint on this one.
You have got to see the samples from the DT over on the Compendium of Curiosities 3 blog! They are absolutely amazing! I'm a little shy about entering my little tin in the challenge! LOL! But I really wanted to do the challenge, so there you have it!
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow Lisa, this is outstanding! What a gorgeous way to decorate a tin. What a lovely gift this would make x
Beautifully done! I like seeing the challenge with different colors and styles; "grunge" and "steampunk" are great, but this technique lends itself to all manner of interpretations. Nice work!
This is stunning! Love your colours and the embossingfolders are beautiful on the tin! It looks like you had great fun making this! Hugs, Gerrina
What a gorgeous metal box! I love the embossing and coloring you did. Thank you so much for joining us in our metalicious challenge at CC3Challenge!!!
Lisa!!! I love your little altered tin. It's such a cute idea and I love the fact that you've used Tim's painted industrial technique with color rather than just black. That color works on this technique, too and I love the way it looks on this piece! Totally changes it's personality! Thanks so much for joining us at CC3C. <3 Candy
