PMS Blog Hop and Release Day!

This little fairy is Teddy. Isn't he just adorable with his little teddy bear? So sweet! I used this great layout from Amy Rysavy. The sentiment is also from PMS which you can find in the Monster Sentiment set.

PMS Day 4 Sneak Peek - Flowers and Wordart

Well we are almost there...tomorrow is the release of the August Paper Makeup Stamps collection. The fairies are fabulous once again, the Dream Big set is full of wonderful dream quotes, and today we have a flower set and more wordart. I was given this wordart to preview today.This is a quote from the famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky, "the Great One". I like this quote. If you don't play, you can't win...right? I inked the stamp in basic gray ink, then wiped off the larger words and used a real red marker to color them in. The black circle behind the quote has another gray circle behind it to make it look more like a hockey puck! I don't if I achieved the look I wanted, but it's there just so you know! The dp is from SU's print pack from a while ago in basic gray. I like the gray/white/red color combo. What do you think? It also follows the SCS sketch posted for yesterday's challenge.

PMS Sneak Peek Day 3 - More Fairies

Today is day 3 of the Paper Makeup Stamps sneak peeks. Today we have more fairies...my favorites! This fairy is very special because of its significance. She's Hope Fairy and her ribbon represents all the causes that affect our lives. I've chosen purple as my ribbon color to represent the fight against Alzheimer's disease. (I found this site that tells you the ribbon colors and their meanings.) As some of you may know, my dad lost his life due to complications of Alzheimer's (you can read about him here at the very bottom of the post), so this is dedicated to him and all the families afflicted with this disease.

I've used all PTI papers here today. I don't own much purple (not my favorite color!), but I did have PTI's Guidelines dp and their lavender moon and plum pudding, as well as the plum pudding ribbon! Hope is colored with various copic markers and I popped up the bird and Hope's wings. She's got star dust stickles all over her cause I think fairies should SPARKLE! The sentiment is from a PMS quote. The entire quote says "When the world says give up, hope whispers try it one more time". I thought it would be perfect for this card, but it unfortunately didn't fit. So, I just colored the word "hope" and stamped and punched it out with the small oval punch. Problem fixed! I added some bling to the sentiment as well. This card was made using the fabulous Mojo Monday sketch for this week too.

I just love this fairy, and she can represent any cause of your liking just by coloring her to match your cause. Pretty neat idea, huh? PMS Monday Challenge and Sneak Peek Day 1

Today is a double whammy...it's our usual Monday Challenge at Paper Makeup Stamps and it's day one of our August sneak peeks. Today's challenge is a technique challenge and was chosen by yours truly. The technique is to make your own decorative paper. I made my own paper using a technique I've been wanting to try for a while....alcohol inks. Here's my card.

First of all, do you love the image? I was hoping PMS would have a fairy with a dog because I love dogs! I had to have this one to sneak for you! Her name is MeMe Fairy and she'll be available on the 7th.

Now the technique. I followed the tutorial on SCS for Alcohol Inks and let me tell you it was EASY! I used a piece of photo paper (because it's glossy) and butterscotch, lettuce, raisin, eggplant, and latte alcohol inks and silver mixative. It literally took me 5 minutes to do.

I wanted to show as much of the background as possible, so all I added were some ribbon, a paw print brad, and the word "soulmates" from the Soulmates free digi from PMS this week. You can find it here. I thought it was perfect for this fairy and her dog.

VSN Paper Chef Challenge

Have you ever participated in the VSN challenges on SCS? I only did once before, and I happened upon this one last night called the Paper Chef Challenge and thought I'd give it a go. There were challenges every hour from 5 to 9 and I caught the last called Alergic To.... The challenge was that we could not use any ink, markers, pens, colored pencils, which meant NO COPIC MARKERS for me! WHAT???? And...the card had to be completed within 45 minutes! Wow, this truly was a challenge for me! So this is what I came up with.So let me tell you what I did without my copics! I just purchased this Spellbinders shapeability butterfly die...so pretty! I was testing it out on a white scrap and decided to use it. I found this butterfly paper in the Urban Prairie dp pack by Basic Grey and matched it up with SU's so saffron and new in-color melon mambo. The ribbon is PTI's raspberry fizz and it matches melon mambo perfectly. The sentiment is a SU rub-on that was free from some promotion...I have about 5 packs of it and never used it! I added star dust stickles on the butterfly and I was done in just 20 minutes! This is a 4.25" square notecard.

My Time to Create Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! It's the weekend....wooohooo! And it's Saturday, so that means a My Time to Create challenge! Today we have a sketch that Lauren created for us. Here's the sketch.
I love sketches...they really help me creatively. This is one that I never would have thought of on my own. I'm not one to put things on angles and such, so it was a stretch for me, but I really like my card. I won this set at the SCS Spring Stamping event we had here in Buffalo in April. It's called You're So Punny from There She Goes. It's illustrated by Holly McMillen (Toy on SCS). I forgot I had it until a couple of weeks ago and decided to ink it up. I stamped and colored it, but it bled over the lines, so I had to cut it out and mount it on dimensionals. I'm glad I did...it gave it some texture. The sentiment inside the spout of water is from PTI's Mailbox Greetings. Holly's set has a couple that fit in there, but I wanted a get well wish so I could send this to my niece who had her wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. I added some Star Dust stickles to the waves, the spout of water, and all around the whale to simulate splashes of water.
