Paper Makeup Stamps Sneak Peek - Baby Day

 The Paper Makeup Stamps sneaks for the September release have begun!  Yesterday was actually the first day...did you see them on the PMS blog?  If not, check them out after leaving here to see all the new kids on the PMS block! 

Today is what I called "Baby Day".  We have several baby-themed images being released this month...two of which are silhouettes of previously released fairies!  We all love silhouettes, so we wanted to see some of the cute fairies as silhouettes.  I have the Shelby Silhouette fairy that I am using today.

She was a favorite of mine when she was first released and I love her just as much as a silhouette!  She's stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.  I find that this is the best ink for using on solid rubber images such as silhouettes.  You get a nice even inking and vivid image when stamped.  I only own the black ink, but I'm thinking of getting more colors (brown and red for sure!) to use with these images.  So, I stamped the image then cut and embossed it with a nestie.  Then I swirled some pink ink around the image (while still in the die) and then went over that with some antique linen distress ink.  Love how I got a sort of peach tint to match my dp (totally not planned either!).  The paper is Graphic 45's Once Upon a Springtime (floral) and Curtain Call (black dotted).  Oh how I love Graphic 45 papers!  The flower was created using PTI's flower and leaf dies and felt.  A pretty antique brad (compliments of my sweet friend, Michele Ghent) holds the flower together.  The sentiment is from Little Moments....that set is so versatile and I find myself using it over and over!  The sketch was last week's Sweet Sunday sketch.

Pretty Palette #25

Hi everyone!  I'm here with another Pretty Palette challenge from My Time Made Easy.  Speaking of which, did you see the new products that were released on Thursday?  You can see them all here.

For my card this week, I used a couple of cut files - one old and one new. I used this week's Clean & Simple sketch. The vertical element on the sketch reminded me of a telephone cord (on the older phones!), so I use this telephone image from On Display 1 digital stamp set. I changed the colors (it was black) to the Pretty Palette colors. Then I remembered that MTME had a cut file called Random Ribbons that had this curly ribbon image in it. I cut it out of celery and olive papers and cut them in half and layered them together. Then I added this turquoise ribbon (from JoAnn's) in the middle. The ovals were cut using the new Simple Tags Open cut file. I just used the plain oval and resized a second one to 85% so I could layer them and stamped the sentiment from On Display 1 acrylic stamp set. The background was embossed with a numbers embossing folder.

Just Us Girls #100!!! A Special Challenge!!!

Hello JUGs fans...over 1,000 of you!  This is our 100th Just Us Girls challenge, so that means we've gained about 10 new fans every challenge!  That's awesome!  So we have something special planned for you this week.

This week is a sketch challenge, so we've decided to go back to our very 1st challenge, which was a sketch challenge, and have a do-over.   So this is what I came up with.

I'm sneaking a new image from Paper Makeup Stamps called High Five which will be released on Wednesday, September 7th.  This is a new kids line that PMS is carrying called Color Kids.  Their sneaks began today, so check out the PMS blog to see more from this line.  I stamped her twice...once on PTI white cardstock and again on this dp from the Hopscotch paper pack by Basic Grey.  I cut out her top and paper pieced it.   The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Here are the details from the JUGs blog post.

1. Create a CARD based on the sketch - although it's just a "starting point" we should be able to tell that your card was created with this sketch in mind.
2. Become a FOLLOWER of our JUGS blog if you are not already.

My Time Made Easy - Tricky Treat Tote

Have you seen the new products in the My Time Made Easy store?  We have some fabulous new items in there for you to create with!  Today, I'm showcasing one of the new templates called Tricky Treat Tote.  Now while the name of the template hints at Halloween, I'm here to show you it can be used for any kind of items.

I went to a Party Lite party a few months ago and purchased some tea lights and a tea light holder.  I'm not a candle person, so I've been holding on to them to give as a gift.  This tote was the perfect size to hold them!  I started by using SU's retired cameo coral cardstock to cut out the template.  Then I used two papers from MTME's new Trendy Forest digital paper to decorate the front and sides.  On the front, I used Liquid Pearls in an opal color.  I love the look of Liquid Pearls! 

The tag was created using the Round Up cut file and the new Happy Hallows digital stamp set.  I layered and colored the image using the GIMP software (it's a free software you can download online), then used Lauren's tutorial to cut it using the Cricut.  The sentiment is from Tending the Garden digital stamp set.  Liquid Pearls were added again around the perimeter of the tag.  I added ribbon and a heart button tied with floss.  Some Prima flowers, a pearl brad, and more ribbon finish off the front of the tote.

I really loved the leaves print in the Trendy Forest digital paper, but it was a little too busy to use on the front of my tote (this tote is really big!), and I HAD to use it, so I covered the sides with it.  It matches the leaves on the tag, so it looks really pretty and gives so much more color to the tote!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long - Fancy Schmancy Cards

Happy Friday! It's my last day off before I have to start getting up involuntarily at 5:30 am every day for school! Summer is over and it's getting closer to the holidays!  How are you getting on with your Christmas cards?  Why not start with this great challenge from Christmas Stampin' All Year Long? 

We are sponsored by Pink Cat Studio this week and the challenge is to make a fancy fold card....a card that is folded in any way other than a regular card.  I used Friendly Snowman and the Two Way Open card.  I found this tutorial a while ago on SCS and thought it was such a cool card.

I used this retired Christmas Cocoa paper from SU that I just love!  The brown and red are so beautiful together.  It coordinates with Soft Suede and Real Red cardstock.   I colored the image accordingly and then cut and embossed it with a nestie.  The smallest nestie was used for the sentiment.

September Calendar Challenge

Happy September everyone!  Today was my first day back at school (officially), and I had to endure all the meetings and things they make you do on staff days.  If you are a teacher, you will know what I'm talking about!  As I was in the meetings, I was thinking about what I wanted to do for my calendar, since I forgot to do it earlier in the week.  Some of the girls get together for a monthly calendar challenge...you'll see links to their blogs at the end of this post.  I haven't participated since June, so I was determined to get one done this month!  I decided on this little guy from Paper Makeup Stamps called Schoolie Ed.  (I actually wanted to use Ms. Nancy the Teaching Fairy, but she just didn't fit on the top of the calendar!)

The calendars I'm using are from Taylored Expressions.  They print out as a 6x6 calendar.  I trimmed it down a bit to mount it on a 6x6 piece of garden green cardstock so the back is finished off and you don't see the ink bleeding through.  The sentiment is from the Apples to Apples set, also from Paper Makeup Stamps.  I added red corner pieces in real red to give it more color.  Very simply (and quickly) done, but too cute!  I think this is going to school with me this year!  Here's a closeup.

My Time Made Easy Release Day - Tricky Treats!

It's September 1st and that means it's release day at My Time Made Easy!  We have two new templates being released this month and I have this one called Tying Up Loose Ends.  It's a cute template that uses only one piece of cardstock.  I've cut it out of black cardstock and added the decorative layer from the previously released Traditional Halloween digital paper.  The ends are tied shut with some pretty satin ribbon.  All you have to do is untie it to reveal the treats inside! 

The decorative label on the front is also a new Pretty Pieces cut file being released this month called Frame Me.  I've used black for the larger piece and marigold morning for the top piece.  The image is a cute turtle from the new Woodland Creatures digital stamp set.  He's colored in GIMP to match the paper and cut with the circular image from Frame Me. (I used Lauren's tutorial to achieve this step.)  The crystal spiders finish it off.

Here  is a view of the end of the template.  Just untie and the goodies will be revealed!  You can see that the template has a rounded shape or you could score it to get a more squared shape.

The MTME design team is revealing the two new templates today.  You have to see what they've done with them!  You won't want to miss it!  And when you are done, you can go right to the MTME store and purchase, download, and start creating your own projects!
