There's a new challenge over at the Time Out blog. This time around our challenge is to be inspired by words, and those words are:
Friendship is Golden.
I saw a video by Jennifer McGuire earlier in the week where she used Perfect Pearls and Distress inks to create a faux textured metal paper panel on her cards. I was so intrigued by it, so I created my card based on her technique. I first masked off a rectangle in the middle of a white panel then sponged antique linen and vintage photo distress inks on it, blending them in the middle. Jennifer used Perfect Pearls over the wet ink next, but I didn't have any. However I did have some old containers of Pearl Ex from Stampin' Up that I've never used. I believe these are the same product with different names. The one I used is called Aztec Gold. I just brushed it on and wiped some off with a dry cloth, removed the masking, and embossed it with an embossing folder. Such a cool look! I embellished it with a word die, banner and sentiment, and some Prima roses. I matted that panel with a metallic gold paper.
You can see more inspiration on the Time Out blog and our guest for this challenge, Cornelia.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, you nailed that technique! Looks so great, just as the card! It reminds me of a warm and soft plaid my grandmother had... don't know why that came up :) Have a sunny summerweek! Hugs, Gerrina
