Just Us Girls #660 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  I hope all my American friends had a very nice Thanksgiving Day.  We had a nice time with family, great food, and football (our Buffalo Bills pulled out a win)!

This is our last challenge for 2022 over at Just Us Girls.  We are taking December off and will be back in January with some exciting changes.  But this week is Photo Week and Carol has chosen this comfy looking photo.

I saw that painting of the deer over the fireplace and knew exactly what stamp I was going to use.  This is an older stamp set from Papertrey Ink that I cannot part with.  It's a multi-step stamp set and comes together so nicely.  I chose a fun polka dot pattern paper for the back and a pretty teal for the frame.  I stamped the sentiment and die cut it three times (as I did for the deer) for dimension.  I spritzed it with shimmer spray and added red pearls.

You can see more from our JUGs design team and our November guest, Karren Johnson, on the JUGs blog.  Thanks goes out to Karren for being such a great guest this month!

Have a wonderful holiday season and we will see you in January!

Just Us Girls #659 - Color Week

Hi friends!  Carol is the hostess at Just Us Girls for our Color Week challenge.  I love that she chose these classic holiday colors.

I chose these bells as the focus of my card this week.  I die cut them from two different green colors and gold for the accent. The bow was die cut from red and burgundy card stocks.  I chose to display them on this pattern paper I received free from Honey Bee.  It was the perfect back drop for the bells.  The sentiment was embossed in gold on red card stock and stacked with two other pieces for dimension.  I popped up the bells and added shimmer on the red berries to complete the card.

Just Us Girls #658 - Trend Week

Hi!  I'm the hostess this week over at Just Us Girls for the Trend Week challenge.  I chose for us to make a matching envelope.  I feel envelopes get ignored sometimes and thought this would be a good challenge.

I started by making my card.  I used the Peaceful Pines stencils from Taylored Expressions.  This made four cards, but I'm only sharing one here today.  I saw one on their site using these bright colors and thought it was so fun, so I went with it.  I added some texture with their Fresh Snow paste.  It's kind of hard to see in the photos.  I stamped the sentiment and added crystals and mounted it on an aqua card base.
For the envelope, I created it in the same manner as the card to mirror it.  When I send cards to family and friends out of town, I always stamp the back flap with a sentiment that says "Greetings from Buffalo" and I have a buffalo stamp that I stamp with it (I live in Buffalo, NY).  I got it at my LSS, who special orders them.

Just Us Girls #657 - Word Week

Hello!  This week is Word Week at Just Us Girls, and Bobby chose the word FENCE.

I saw Jennifer McGuire use this die in this manner a while ago and had to have the die.  For her background, she pieced strips of colorful paper for her background.  I didn't have the time (or patience!) to do that, but I did remember I had lots of rainbow printed paper from Waffle Flower that I could use.  I chose this one and adhered it to the card base.  I die cut the image from white card stock and adhered it over the rainbow paper.  Then I needed a fence, so I found this slimline fence die from Honey Bee and cut it to size and adhered it over the die.  I think it looks like it belongs!  I added the foiled sentiment from Pink Fresh and some crystals.  I love this card!  I'm sending it to my niece who will start a new nursing position with our local Veteran's hospital next week.  I think the sentiment is fitting.

Just Us Girls #656 - Holiday Gift Tags

Hello everyone!  It's getting to be THAT time of the year!  The holidays are literally right around the corner.  Carol Mc has the perfect Wild Card challenge for us over at Just Us Girls...Holiday Gift Tags.

I love making tags, but I hate when I see them get thrown out with the crumpled wrapping paper!  I don't usually put this much time into them, but I got carried away!  This is a Papertrey Ink tag set that I've had forever.  I'm not even sure it's still available.  I die cut it from white card stock and colored the ornaments with copic markers.  Then I had the idea to make it into a flat shaker, so I die cut another from white for the back and the top from white glitter card stock (which you can't see in the photo).  On the top one, I cut out the ornaments.  I added the clear pieces to the bottom and middle layers and added diamond dust glitter in between and adhered them together.  Then I adhered the white glitter piece on top.  I added the ribbon and die cut sentiment to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #655 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  Cecile has chosen a beautiful photo for the current Just Us Girls Photo Week challenge.  It's really so her style!  I love it!

I saw that feathery thing and immediately thought of this wheat image I just got last week at my LSS.  It's from Penny Black and is red rubber, so I used my much unused Tombow markers to color it.  I started with a gold color on the entire image, then used medium and dark brown markers to add shading.  It's a 5x7 card because the image is so big, and it looked too white.  I pulled out another red rubber background stamp and stamped over the image with antique linen oxide ink.  I added the die sentiment, which was stacked three times for dimension, and brown crystals.  I also rounded the right corners for some extra interest.

Just Us Girls #654 - Color Week

Hello!  I'm the hostess at Just Us Girls for this week's Color Week challenge.  I love autumn and chose some colors that remind me of my favorite season.

I started with this card.  I received a pretty paper pack from my friend Cheryl and it was in these colors.  I chose a pattern from it and the Fall Foliage stencil and die set from Pink Fresh.  The orange here looks yellow, but it really is orange.  This is a four-piece layering stencil set that has a coordinating die.  I layered the pieces onto the panel and added a twine bow and crystals.  Before I added the sentiment, I spritzed it with shimmer spray.

Then I did the next three cards, which were stenciled on one sheet of paper using the Falling for You layering stencil set from Taylored Expressions.  I used the same colors as in the first card and created three mini slim cards.  I chose card bases in the challenge colors.

Just Us Girls #653 - Trend Week

Hi friends!  It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Sue chose CAS (clean and simple).

This is about as CAS as I can handle!  LOL!  I had these sunflowers already cut and colored on my desk.  They were colored with copic markers.  I die cut the "postage" die from Gina K and added the sunflowers with dimensionals.  The hi sentiment was die cut three times from brown cardstock and stacked together for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment in brown ink in the last block.  This was mounted on brown cardstock onto the white base. I added shimmer to the flowers.  I didn't even add any bling!  Unusual for me!

Just Us Girls #652 - Word Week

Hello friends!  I hope everyone who lives in Florida is doing well.  It's terrible seeing all the devastation on the news.

This week's challenge over at Just Us Girls is the Word Week challenge.  Ina has chosen the word scraps.

I have been wanting to use my scraps (which I have so much of!) with this strip die.  I started by stamping the image and coloring it with copic markers.  I die cut it three times for dimension.  Then I die cut the scrap strips and adhered them on the card base.  The sentiment was die cut three times and stacked for dimension too.  I added orange pearls and stamped the sentiment on the envelope.

Just Us Girls #650 - Color Week

Hello friends!  It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby has chosen a very pretty fall color combo.

I went through my fall stamps and I came across this pumpkin that I've always loved from Honey Bee.  I stamped it in three shades of orange with three different stamps.  It looked too white, so I shaded it with some light orange ink.  The middle piece was die cut three times and stacked for dimension.  I stamped the stem, leaves (I put too much shimmer on the large leaf), and twigs and added some crystals down the middle piece.  I chose a weave stencil for the background and brown ink.  It looks too busy, but I had to live with it.  I chose a simple sentiment.

Just Us Girls #649 - Trend Week

Hello friends!  We have a new challenge over at Just Us Girls today.  It's Trend Week, and Carol Mayne has chosen REPETITION.  That's a fun and interesting trend challenge.

I made this card (that I've never shared) as part of the Crop and Create Delivered event sponsored by Scrapbook and Cards.  It is a weekend long event with a box of supplies from popular stamp companies (such as Gina K, Lawn Fawn, Concord & 9th, Pink Fresh, etc.) and very famous instructors (such as Gina K, Jenn Shurkus, Jennifer McGuire, etc.) doing card making classes online.  The amount of cards and supplies you end up with is crazy!  I'm doing it again in October.  I've already received my box of supplies and it's amazing once again.

This card was sponsored by The Stamp Market with Amy Yingling teaching the class.  I used the stamp set A Little Bit of Everything and the coordinating die set to create this repeated sentiment in a rainbow of colors.  I used Catherine Pooler inks.  The flower was stamped and die cut with the coordinating die set and popped up with foam dots.  I added crystals to the card and center of the flower.  It's a one-layer card ladies and gents!  Not often do I create one like that!

Just Us Girls #647 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  Lisa E. is the hostess this week for the Photo Week challenge at Just Us Girls.  She chose this cute back to school photo.

I'm a retired teacher and have no children going back to school, so I chose to use the colors in the photo instead.  (Getting off topic here, but who loves to look at all the new school supplies every year in the stores?  Me, me, me!  I don't know what it is about new school supplies, but I just love them!)  Back to the card.  I'm in a fall mood and chose this wreath stencil to use with the colors in the photo.  I wanted the one leaf to look more red, but it looks brown-ish.  I did use yellow ink and red over it.  After stenciling, I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle.  Then I stamped and die cut the sentiment and die cut it two more times to stack for dimension.  The secondary sentiment was stamped below it.  I added crystal baubles for shimmer and mounted this panel on a teal card stock.  Can't wait for cooler fall weather (and Buffalo Bills football, which I'm watching now)!

Just Us Girls #646 - Color Week

Hello!  I'm the hostess for this week's Just Us Girls Color Week challenge.  I love these colors.

I just received some new product from the current Concord & 9th release today and thought they'd work well with the colors.  I started by creating the background using a Turnabout stencil.  I stenciled it twice in yellow and once in teal and tan (my tan is Sand Castle but it looks brown).  Then I die cut it with a stitched rectangle die and then with the oval die.  I die cut the oval from the card base as well so there is a see through element.  I stamped the sentiment on the inside with teal ink and then again on a scrap piece with yellow ink and die cut the middle part with the banner die.  I adhered that on the front covering up the stamped image inside.  I added some stamped leaves and crystals to finish it off.
And my favorite color is autumn!!

Just Us Girls #645 - Trend Week

Hello friends!  The Trend Week challenge at Just Us Girls is to use a stencil.  Bobby brought us this challenge this week and if you take a look at my blog, you'll see it's one I love!

This floral image may not look like a stencil, but it is!  It from Altenew, and it's a stamp, stencil, 3-D embossing folder, and die set.  I used all but the stamp.  I started by embossing the image.  Then I laid the four stencils over it and added the color.  After that, I die cut it then popped the piece back into the embossing folder to emboss again because it lost some of its dimension when I die cut it.  Before adhering it to the base, I used a cover plate to get some dimension to the background.  I added the sentiment and crystals to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #644 - Word Week

Hello!  We have a new challenge at Just Us Girls.  This week is our Word Week challenge and Vicki has chosen the word BUTTERFLIES.

I had three foiled butterflies on my desk, but I knew I had this stamp and stencil butterfly set from Taylored Expressions that I really wanted to use instead.  I started by using the red cling stamp for the bodies, stamping it in black ink.  Then I laid the two layering stencils for the wings and added two colors of orange ink.  I pulled out the die cut and embossed sentiment I had in my stash and laid it on the background.  It looked so busy.  I needed to break it up in some way.  I decided to use a thin frame to cut out a frame from the background piece as well as from black card stock.  I adhered all the pieces to the card base and added a secondary sentiment.  There were more black pearls, but somehow they didn't stay on the card!

Just Us Girls #643 - Wild Card Week

Hi friends!  It's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls.  This means the hostess can choose any challenge she desires.  Ina is this week's hostess, and she chose to have us CASE a designer.  Love this challenge!

I love Jennifer McGuire's cards, so I chose to CASE one of her recent ones.  This is the one I CASED.  It what she called a Unique Shaker Card.  I'll explain below.

What is unique about this shaker is that inside the shaker is a stacked die cut that the shaker bits have to go around instead of just falling to the bottom immediately.  I started by using Pink Fresh's washi tape and coordinating die.  I attached the washi tape to a piece of card stock and die cut it.  I set the other pieces aside.  I die cut it again four more times from white card stock and stacked those blank ones together.  I also die cut the scalloped frame four times from white card stock and once from gold card stock.  I stacked the white ones together.  Before adhering the stacked frame to the card base, I inked it with pink and marigold inks.  I adhered the stacked frame and die cut to the card base and added sequins, crystals, and hearts then adhered a piece of acetate cut to size.  The gold frame was adhered on top as well as the washi die cut.  The sentiment is also from Pink Fresh.

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our guest this month, Fran Wing, on the JUGs blog.  This is her last week with us, and I'd like to thank her for the beautiful cards she shared with us this month.

Thanks for stopping by!
