The Just Us Girls challenge this week is a technique challenge, and I am hosting it. I chose the split negative technique. I've never tried that, and Splitcoaststampers and Gina K have great tutorials to follow. It was actually very easy to do. And I got to pull out the old embossing powder and Versamark. They have been collecting dust in my stamp room! So here is what I came up with.In order for this technique to work well, you need a chunky stamp...one with a lot of surface area that's rubber. This stamp is an older one from My Favorite Things called Boho Blossoms. I pretty much followed Gina K's tutorial. The red base of my card was stamped with a text stamp in Versamark and embossed in white embossing powder. I ran the other white piece through the Swirls embossing folder. I tied that velvet heart button onto the bow with floss. Embossing powder, no dp, no copics...takes me back to my beginning days of stamping!
I hope you play our challenge and take a look at what the girls have done. You can see their creations on the JUGs blog. You can stop by their blogs, too.

Lisa, I love your valentine card. The heart really pops off of the card. Great job on the technique.
Lisa - this is TOO much! I love the bold red and white -- and I have had that MFT set forEVER, and never use it -- TOTALLY love what you did with it here. Thanks for the super challenge this week!
This is one of the most beautiful cards I have EVER seen! I, of course, LOVE your heart but I also love the reverse color background and that adorable heart button! Just FAB! I can't wait to try this technique! How fun!
*sigh* this is just beautiful Lisa - I love the red and white combo - the clean lines and the velvet heart! I chuckled over your comment about the early stamping days - so true! This was a great challenge - well done missy!!

Beauitful Lisa, love the red and white combo, great challenge for this week.
Lisa this is so very pretty. I love the red and white. The heart stamp is so perfect for this technique and I love the way you can see the embossing around the square.
Oh my goodness, this is just gorgeous! I love the white text on the red and the embossing on the white, but the split negative heart is fabulous! I LOVE that little red velvet heart button tied on the ribbon! What a fabulous card!!
It sure is a loooong race today eh? Kasey started out great and so did Tony, but who is going to win this race is anybody's guess! Enjoy :)
Oh Lisa! This is stunning! I love the red and white contrast! Great challenge this week...it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone.
