Tag You're It! Challenge #97

Happy Monday!  Today I'm playing along with the Tag You're It! Challenge.  The challenge is fun with flags.

I have had this very old Simon Says Stamp set called Flag Friends (retired) and I just can't part with it.  The coordinating die cuts out the tag and the little flag opening where you can stamp various flags.  I've chosen the thanks flag stamped in a dark pink.  The flower and leaf were die cut from the same pattern paper as the background, Over the Rainbow (MFT).  I punched a hole in the corner to add the twine bow.  I covered the center of the flower and the leaf in liquid stardust and added some sequins for more shimmer and sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #562

Hey friends!  I thought I'd play with the Color Throwdown colors this week.  They are cobalt blue, aqua, gray and black.  I looked through my stash of unused stamp sets and chose this graphic one from Altenew.  I love that they give you ideas with their stamp sets because I have a difficult time with images like these!  I followed one of their examples and just changed up the colors to match the challenge colors.  I love that sentiment as well.  This is going to a friend to celebrate an accomplishment.

Here is the Color Throwdown graphic and link to the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #507 - Photo Week

Hello friends!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Maria chose this beautiful photo.

I love sunflowers (take a look at my blog header!).  I pulled out this sunflower set from Right at Home.  It's a layering stamp set with six different stamps just for the sunflower!  The leaves are a two step stamp.  I stamped the block print in a light color to ground the image.  The happy sentiment was die cut and layered over the stamped sentiment.  I added yellow crystals for sparkle.

I'm also entering this in the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

Time Out #145 - Theme Challenge

Hello everyone!  It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  We are celebrating breast cancer awareness and are sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays.

I've chosen to use the stamp set called Peaceful Garden.  I used pink colors to coordinate with the color of breast cancer awareness.  I stamped the leaves three times in a lighter pink then stamped the detail part in a darker pink.  I added the pink strip of pattern paper and the stamped banner on top.  I finished it off with pink heart crystals.  There is shimmer on the leaves as well.

On a personal note, we just found out last week that my 85 year old mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer.  It's in the very early stages and we think she will have some minor surgery to remove the spots and she will not need any further procedures (we are praying for this).  The doctor said it's not hereditary and that they see this happen quite often in elderly women.  Even at her age, she goes every year for a mammogram and we are so thankful she did.  It was caught early and we have a very good cancer hospital here in Buffalo (Roswell Park Cancer Institute) that she is going to.  She will be well taken care of.

Just Us Girls #506 - Color Week

Hi there!  I'm hostess this week at Just Us Girls for our Color Week.  The colors I've chosen are white, mint green, and shades of gray.

Let me first say that I'm not happy with my photo.  The color is so washed out!  In person, the green is much more vibrant.  All that aside, I stamped the outline of the flower then added the green shading and a darker gray in the center.  The flower was masked in order to stamp the light gray leaves behind it.  I added the sentiment and crystals and shimmer to the center of the flower.  This main panel was mounted on a gray base with craft foam.  I really love this color combo.

Just Us Girls #505 - Trend Week

Hi all!  This week is Trend Week over at Just Us Girls.  Angie chose stacking die cuts.  I love this trend and use it a lot!

I felt like coloring today, so I pulled out this cute MFT set and colored the bird, basket, and leaves.  The leaves in the basket were stacked three times for some dimension.  The background was created using the grassy edges and cloud stencils.  The hello die was stacked as well.  I die cut it from Lawn Fawn's Fall Fling pattern paper.  I stamped the sentiment under it, added shimmer to the leaves and bird and added the crystals.  I'm not really a scene making kind of card maker, but I enjoyed making this card!

Time Out #144 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hello friends!  It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  This time it's our Home Sweet Home challenge.  Below is the picture to be inspired by.

I saw the black and white stripes and that green plant.  I die cut a black and white diagonal stripe pattern paper with a stitched rectangle die.  Then I die cut the leafy square three times from green cardstock and stacked them together.  Then I die cut another from black glitter paper and inlaid the negative piece into the green stacked piece.  The sentiment was stamped and die cut.  I added green crystals to finish it off.

We are sponsored by Poppystamps for this challenge too!

Just Us Girls #504 - Word Week

Hi all!  It's Word Week at Just Us Girls as well as the first week of school (and I'm retired...yay!).  Vicki chose an the appropriate word for this time of year...SCHOOL.

I went with apples.  The quintessential symbol for teachers and school.  I cannot tell you how many lovely apple gifts I received over the years from my students!  I stamped, die cut and colored the apples, flower, and leaves from Papertrey Ink and adhered them to a panel with a black and white diagonal print paper.  The images have shimmer on them from a glitter pen.  I added the sentiment and little heart sequins.  I always loved having cards such as these on hand to give to students when I received gifts.

Time Out #143 Reminder

Hi everyone!  I'm here to remind you about the current Time Out challenge.  We are in our second week, and here's the quote to be inspired by:

I think it's obvious that I was inspired by the rainbow and raindrops.  I started by choosing four colors for my rainbow of raindrops.  I used a Simon Says Stamp Ledger Drops stencil.  That panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die.  I didn't want to cover up that pretty background, so I die cut the Dainty Flowers from white cardstock and placed the banner over it.  Sequins were placed on the panel and I used Lawn Fawn's glitter pen on the flowers.
