Hello friends! It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby chose Frame It.
I made two cards, not sure which to showcase on the JUGs blog, but in the end I chose this one. I started by using scraps (I just watched a Jennifer McGuire video showing how she uses up scraps) that I have from some really old Stampin' Up paper. I cut them into different widths and adhered them to the rectangle that was left over from die cutting the frame, allowing them hang off a bit. I adhered that piece to the main panel. For the frame, I wanted it to have a woodgrain texture so I impressed it with a woodgrain impression plate from Papertrey Ink. I popped that up on the pattern paper piece with foam strips. I found this leaf I had created a long time ago and thought it looked pretty in the frame. I'm pretty sure it was created with distress inks. I added brown crystals and a sentiment on a flag strip.
I wasn't quite sure about the first card, so I made this one next. I created the main panel with distress oxide inks then added the mandala frame on top. The sentiment was die cut with the silver paper for the word and vellum for the shadow behind it. Silver sequins were added to match the silver sentiment.
That's it! You can see more from the JUGs design team and our October guest on the JUGs blog.
Thanks for stopping by!

Both of your cards are equally amazing! Way to use up those bits of paper on the first, and LOVE that mandala frame over that inked background!
Wow Lisa I just love your first card with those scraps as a beautiful background for your stunning leaf then you go and show a second one with another great background. The mandala die looks stunning. Love them both.
I'm glad you showed both, Lisa, because either one is great for the challenge. I do love the scrap pieced one and need to try that myself. The ink blending on the other one is wonderful and makes the mandala glow.
A duo of delight, Lisa...so happy you shared both! Your first is a marvelous way to elevate 'scraps' to star-billing! Beautiful! Your blending, hello and mandala...striking! Love and love!
