Featured Stamper and Some Fun Stuff!

I have no business playing in an SCS challenge today because I have SO MUCH to do for the SCS WNY Spring Fest stamping event happening here in Buffalo on Saturday. I'm getting nervous! But, I had to play today because my fellow PMS DT buddy, Jamie Morris, is the FEATURED STAMPER today on SCS! Way to go, Jamie! So you can see why I had to play! Anyway, I chose this card to case. Of course I had to use this PMS butterfly stamp from the Buggy Sayings set to show some unity! I chose this one to keep the "bug" theme of Jamie's card. I couldn't find a PMS sentiment small enough to fit on my main image, so I went with this from PTI's Beautiful Bloom. The dp is SU's Good Morning Sunshine. Did I ever mention that I LOVE brown and pretty much any color with it? Of course I did! So when I saw this dp it was instant love! I added a button to the bow and changed the placement of the brads. Well, actually, I forgot to add the brads like in Jamie's card. I took the picture and was loading it when I realized it, so I took the card apart and added them, then took another picture. It bothered me that the brads were left off! But by then, the brads had to go on the opposite side! Oh well, what can I say? I colored the butterfly with copic markers, then added sky blue and sunflower shimmerz paint. The blue looks splotchy I think because I added more shimmerz and it may have still been wet, cause it doesn't look like that IRL. That's it for this card! Congrats again, Jamie!

Well on to my other crafty endeavor. My MIL's 75th birthday is Wednesday, and my SIL is having dinner and cake at her house later today. I just couldn't figure out what to get for her. I wanted something special, but I was drawing a blank. So I thought I'd just give her money, but that's kind of tacky for a special birthday. But, I came up with this idea using money.
Isn't this fun? I picked up this metal wall hanging at JoAnn's (on sale 40% off!). I thought it would be the perfect base for my "money tree"! I got 15 $5 bills, folded them accordian-style, tied them with ribbon remnants from my ribbon jar, and attached them to the tree with glue dots! Genius, right? And she gets to keep the wall hanging if she wants it! I may keep it for myself if she doesn't want it! I hope she likes it, cause I had a really hard time deciding on a gift!

Now on to the next project. If you read my post yesterday, you would know that today is my birthday! When I woke up this morning and looked for the Sunday paper, I had a little surprise waiting for me from my hubby. Now get your dirty little minds out of the gutter...it wasn't THAT! My hubby is very handy around the house (he remodeled my whole kitchen himself), he's very much into sports and hunting and fishing, and he even thinks he's crafty! Look at what the goofball did! Are you laughing as hard as I was when I first saw this? Now this isn't the first time he's made a card for me. I've gotten cards for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and my birthday before. But he hasn't done it in a while...he told me he went into "retirement"! He uses stuff I have laying around on my table. This is a new High Hopes stamp that is bare rubber. He stamped it in regal rose. The face didn't stamp, so he drew it in! He punched the butterfly and then put a piece of regal rose paper behind it (clever, huh?). He then used my oval punch on the top and bottom and wrote in the Happy "Birtday"! I told him he left out the "h". He said he wanted it centered in the oval and started in middle of the word and worked his way out and left it out accidentally! Is this funny or what? So ladies, show your hubbies this and tell them now there are no excuses for not making you a card!

I hope you enjoyed this! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
and Kevin

I think it is adorable, sweet and very caring for your husband to make you a card. Who else but a card maker can appreciate how much goes into making a card? Happy Birthday!

Well, I got quite a kick out of your post.....your card & gift are awesome, but your DH's card....well, that was just something else! Thanks SO much for sharing! My DH would NEVER do that! Although the punches (he calls them stamps) do intrigue him, he hasn't actually USED them!

How cute! I can't wait to tell my DH that your DH's hands didn't burst into flames spontaneously just by touching a stamp. Love the pink butterfly :)
