PMS Monday Color Challenge
Today's Monday challenge over on the PMS blog is a color challenge chosen by fellow DT member Dawn Knight. She chose these fab colors: summer sun, cameo coral, old olive, and kraft. This is my interpretation of those colors. I used Penelope as my focal image. I had not used this fairy on a card yet, and I felt this layout was perfect for it since she's a bit bigger image. I sort of followed a Paper Pretties sketch, but had to leave a layer off, so it didn't qualify, but I kept the rest of it. The dp is SU's retired Linen Prints and this one has sort of an oriental feel to it and it was in old olive...perfect! I layered those two pieces on summer sun which was punched with a MS flourish punch on all four sides. I accidentally cut the cameo coral piece too small and when I layered them together, this is what it looked like. I really liked the coral peeking out from the summer sun, so I kept it. The image was too wide for any of my nesties, and I remembered this technique I saw on Katharina's blog. Basically what I did was stamp the image and cut around the wings and the bottom of her dress. These cut parts were then layered OVER the die so they wouldn't be cut. Super easy and an "aha" moment for me when I saw her post. Check it out...she has a tutorial for this technique. Penelope is also colored with various copic markers and glittered with a Spica clear star glitter pen. The pearls were colored with a copic marker.
To get the kraft color in this one, I made the flower. Cheryl Rowley did one on one of her cards here, and she found the tutorial on Lesa's blog, Paper Possibilities. Very easy to do. I just cut eight of the smallest heart nesties, punched a hole in the point part of the heart and joined them together with a brad. I actually sponged the edges with cameo coral before putting them together. I then attached a button and pearl in the center with a glue dot. I was supposed to add leaves, but forgot before I took the picture. That's how I got all my colors in this card for the challenge!
So, are you up for a color challenge? Head on over to the PMS blog and check out what the other DT members did with these colors for inspiration. If you choose to play, link your card to our Mr. Linky so we can see it. If you choose to post on SCS or PCP, please use code PMSMC08 so we can find them there, too! I look forward to seeing you there! Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great week! It's back to work for me today, so I probably won't be around as much! :-(
