Just Us Girls #470 - Trend Week

Hello everyone!  At Just Us Girls this week, our Trend challenge is the emboss resist technique.

I was watching The View the other day, and the background in this photo caught my attention.  I thought it would work well for this technique.

So this is what I came up with.  I had to make a card for my niece's husband's 30th birthday and I thought it the inspiration would make a great card.  I stamped the gingham background in Versamark on Bristol cardstock and embossed it in white embossing powder.  Then I sponged blue print sketch oxide ink over it.  I was hoping for a darker color blue.  I took a paper towel to wipe off the excess in on the embossed areas.  All I had left to do was die cut the numbers and stamp and emboss the sentiment.  I added some Nuvo drops (I didn't think my usual crystals would work on a masculine card!).

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our January guests on the JUGs blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

The blue gingham is marvelous! Definitely a card that your niece's husband will adore, as do I! (oh, to be 30 again *grin*)
Apologies for not visiting last week; the plate-of-life was heaped a bit too high!
