Just Us Girls #487 - Trend Week

Happy Saturday!  This week at Just Us Girls, Nancy chose Bold Letters as our Trend Week challenge.

Loved this challenge, as it gave me a chance to use a die set that I had never used yet!  I started with looking for a sketch (I believe the challenge is over for this sketch).  I then chose this pattern paper.  I think I bought this pack from JoAnn's.  I thought it would be a fun one to use for a birthday card.  Then I die cut the word three times from black cardstock and stacked it.  It also has some shimmer on it.  I stamped the sentiment underneath it and lastly added some colorful crystals.

Time Out #135 - Inspired by Words Challenge

Hi friends!  The new challenge over at Time Out is the Inspired by Words challenge.  This is the quote this week:
"Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground."
-Theodore Roosevelt

Stars!  That's my take on the quote.  I needed a college graduation card, so the stars made it an easy card to make.  I started by searching my stash for stars, and pulled out this Shifter stencil from Tim Holtz.  I sponged Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean inks on the cardstock, then die cut it with a wonky stitched die.  The sentiment was die cut three times and stacked with some shimmer on top.  I stamped the other sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed in white on the black cardstock.  Perfect grad card!  And I made this in my new craft room!  It's not finished completely yet, but I was able to bring up the essentials to create this card.  Can't wait to get it completely finished!

Just Us Girls #486 - Word Week

Happy Saturday!  We have a new challenge on the Just Us Girls blog.  It our word week and Carol chose "movement".  What a fun word and so on trend too!

When this magic picture changer die from Lawn Fawn came out, I IMMEDIATELY bought it!  And when I got it, I IMMEDIATELY made two cards with it!  I think this was the first one which was made a while ago.  I also made this one.  I also made another similar to the other one that my niece requested, but I guess I never took a photo of it!  It was so cute...another dog themed card!  Anyway, on this one, I stamped and colored the butterfly with copic markers on one piece, then stamped the sentiment on another.   I used this pretty rainbow paper from Lawn Fawn as well.  The sequins finished it off.

When you pull up the tab, you get this new picture!  I was so amazed by this die, and it is super easy to use!

Here they are side-by-side.  So cute!

Time Out #134 - Playful

Hi friends!  This week over at the Time Out blog, we are challenging you to be playful!

We are sponsored by Winnie & Walter for this challenge, and they gifted me this very Dog-Gone Cute stamp set.  I'm not a great scene creator, but I channeled Nichol Spohr as inspiration.  I commented on one of her videos that she is the queen of scenes.  I started by sponging some clouds in the background with some blue ink (hard to see in the photo).  I stamped, colored and die cut all the images.  I added the grass on the bottom and continued to add the elements.  The thought bubble and butterflies are on dimensionals.  I added shimmer to the clouds and butterflies.  The sentiment is part of one from another stamp set.  I think this looks playful!

Just Us Girls #483 - Trend Week

Hi everyone!  The Trend Week challenge over at Just Us Girls is Off the Edge!  Carol has chosen this trend and it's so fun!

My mother-in-law's 85th birthday is the day after Easter, and we are having a surprise party for her today.  I made this card for her.  I stamped, die cut and colored this floral bouquet with copic markers twice.  I place it on the card in opposite corners off the edge and cut off the excess.  Then I added the die cut numbers and sentiment along with some Nuvo drops.  There is also shimmer on the flower centers.

Time Out #133 - Theme Challenge

Hey friends!  It's time for a new Time Out challenge.  This week is our theme challenge, and the theme is embellishments.  We want you to use two or more embellishments on your card.  Not a difficult challenge, huh?

We are sponsored by Birch Press Designs, and they sent me this beautiful stitched maple circle frame die to use.  I love it because there are so many parts that you can use together or separately (you'll see that from the design team who used this same die!).  I started by playing with some alcohol inks that I've had forever.  I have added to my collection and recently purchased the alcohol pearls too (haven't used those yet)!  I went with some fall-ish colors because of the maple leaf design.  I created the alcohol design on alcohol ink cardstock, let it dry completely and then die cut the design from it and also from white cardstock.  Then I inlaid all the pieces.  I did this because the circles are so delicate.  This way, they stayed nice and circular, if you know what I mean!  I added the sentiment on white cardstock also and it looked too bland, so I sponged some ink on it to make it stand out.  Since the challenge is to use two or more embellishments, I added the jewels and a double twine bow to the stem of the leaf.  Now I'm not gonna lie...I was so concerned about using the sponsor die that I didn't pay attention to the challenge!  At first I only added the jewels, then at the end realized I needed another embellishment!  The twine bow seemed the most natural choice and I do like it!

Just Us Girls #482 - Word Week

Hello!  This week Nancy chose the word "houses" for the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge.  I loved it!

I went looking through my stamps and found this NBU stamp.  I stamped it onto Neenah cardstock with GinaK amalgam ink and colored it with copics.  I added some shimmer to many parts of the image.  This was a very simple card to create.  I didn't have room for a sentiment on the front, so I can use this for any occasion and stamp something appropriate on the inside.
